Model Idol Combi: so you had a sick day

[ so the thing was, Makoto didn't get sick. It took a series of unfortunate events, a moment of stress-induced weakness, and doing the idiotically chivalrous thing of trying to make her way home in the pouring rain and likely spending too much time in soaked clothing, despite Kise's best efforts.

But the point was, Makoto didn't usually get sick, and when she did get sick, it had to be sick enough to buckle her knees and keep her under her covers with a fever that could warm cold palms in an instant. She'd tried to go to work, but hadn't made it further than her own doorway before she'd gotten too dizzy to stand without the aid of the frame and had been promptly ushered back to bed.

And of course, she hadn't wanted to worry Kise, but that had backfired and for some inexplicable reason, she felt worse than ever. She'd have to change the compress again, she thinks distantly, as she tries to push herself up on her elbows to give him a properly chastising look. At the very least, her parents were now out for one of her dad's races, but... ]

You... really didn't have to come.

[ what if she's contagious? It's bad enough that she feels awful and she's sweaty and her hair's a mess and her face is all red and this isn't very romantic at all-- ]

[ she won't say anything more because she's too busy thinking sappy thoughts-- and lifting her hand to quietly stroke his head. Yeah, he knows her too well. ]

[And then he ends up inching closer to her. While 'sleeping'. It's normal to move around when you're sleeping! It's normal and his eyes are closed so he's definitely still asleep!]

[ Kise, the longer you feign sleep, the more flustered she's going to get when she learns he's been awake for all of this.

But for now, she's going to keep petting him, still lacking the energy to do much else. Except maybe murmur tired little terms of endearment because he's obviously asleep. ]

[ for a moment, her hand freezes. And then, with a shaky exhale of shock, followed by a cough, that yelp she shut down before comes back and she jerks her hand back guiltily. ]

How-- how long were you--?!

Ah, probably a while ago? [Hahaha oh man; yeah he didn't laugh hard enough to start crying but he did laugh.] But don't worry about that, you were really cute! It's like the stuff from your shoujo manga, right?

Come to think of it, there was something like that in... was it volume 19...?

-- I didn't even think of that! M-more importantly, you-- this whole time--!! Ryouta-kun, that's really unfa--

[ well, so is this cough, but by now, she's embarrassed enough to try and burrow under the covers. As stifling warm as that would be with a fever. ]

Are you okay? [He'll dutifully offer her some water once her coughs settles down. She can't hide her face forever. So to help coax her out--]

But volume 19?! That means it's pretty popular, right?

[ after a minute, she peeks out, though that's only because the coughing didn't help a thing and he's got the water and a valid question. ]

Y-yeah... it's twenty-one... volumes.

[ okay, so she's a little short of breath too. ]

[Hey Makoto, hey. You see that cup coming towards you? You should totally drink from that. Look, he's acting all natural so that you won't be too embarrassed anymore.]

[ she's too winded to speak immediately, only giving him a nod before she braces herself to sit up straight enough to drink. She'll even try not to lean in any one direction this time! ]

He'll go ahead and support her anyway. He'd rather not have her collapse to the side because she didn't have his arm around her.]

Okay, she obviously still needs it. It's not that apparent, but she's still trembling until she finishes her drink and lets herself lean back fully against his arm. ]

[Kise now is not the time for that. But he's careful about letting her down, making sure she's tucked in all the way up to her chin.]

I... think we've got some aspirin in the medicine cabinet.

[ because sleeping isn't curing her headache, and she's less than enthused about her current state of healthiness. One thing at a time. ]

[ she really envies his energy right now, but she's smiling when he runs off, beginning the fun process of sitting up again. ]

[Wow she's trying to have fun without him?!

And that's exactly how he finds her when he comes back, the aspirin in his hand forgotten in favour of rushing over to help her up.]
