Yes, Mister Marksley.

[She was looking at something with several dials and lenses while he got his horse settled, her hands clasped loosely as she leaned over a workbench. Looking up when she heard him returning, the flower takes her completely by surprise.

Mika catches herself reaching out to touch it with a claw before she even realizes it. It was stunning, though she pulls her hand back hesitantly as if worried she might break it if she does touch it without permission. Rubbing the back of her hand, Mika nods, her ears flicking back.]

Y-yes Mister Marksley--ah, I-I mean, Rex. Thank you.

[finestmarksman]

It won't bite, I promise. You can have it.

[wolfishsurvivalist]

[Her face turns a shade of red that was only made more obvious by the pale fur around her face, and her hands rose to cover her mouth.]

Y-yes sir.

[finestmarksman]

You act like you've never been given a flower before. That can't possibly be the case.

[wolfishsurvivalist]

[Her ears flatten and her tail tucks immediately, and Mika suddenly finds the toes of her boots incredibly fascinating. Staring at the floor is a much better alternative to answering him.]

[finestmarksman]

[ She doesn't have to answer him. Her reaction does that for her. ] Really? A pretty thing like you? Now that just ain't right.

[wolfishsurvivalist]

'm not...

[She mumbled something, her skirts twisting in her hands as she shrank without really moving.]

[finestmarksman]

Not what? Pretty?

[wolfishsurvivalist]

[She bit her lip and looked away, fidgeting with her skirts. Not able to bring herself to say it, she just shook her head.]

[finestmarksman]

Now who went and told you that? Because I promise you they don't know what they're talkin' about.

[wolfishsurvivalist]

[Mika sputters, covering her face with her hands as her tail wags, pleased with the flattery but still embarrassed. It takes a moment before she can talk.]

N-not many people like wolves much, Rex.

[finestmarksman]

Really? [ And here he thought that Rift was a bit more open-minded, what with its population of Kazoolanders ] I still stand by what I said. You're lovely.

[wolfishsurvivalist]

A-anyway, I really ought to go see to the wards and make sure they're working all right.

[She brushed a loose coil of hair back from her face with her claws, obviously hoping to backpedal safely off the topic to a safer and more comfortable subject. Mika knew the machines were probably fine, she'd helped Jezebel tune them up just the other morning, but as long as Rex wasn't focusing too closely on her she would breathe easier.]

I don't want to take up too much of your time.

[finestmarksman]

All right. All right. [ He backs off, but not before tucking that flower near her ear, careful not to get the moving parts caught in her fur. ]

After you, Miss Whitepaws.

[wolfishsurvivalist]

[She pauses, reaching up to brush her fingers across the metal petals. Mika doesn't seem to react save for how her tail curls upward and begins to wag again as she hurries out of the workshop before he can catch her blushing again.

Waiting for him outside she glances up, her ears flicking forward though there's a moment where she worries she's going to lose the flower by accident.]

I'm glad things have been quiet lately. I hope it lasts a little while longer.

[finestmarksman]

[ He takes a moment to gather some tings, though really he's just giving her some time to herself. He's outside soon enough. ]

Heh. I'll always take a little peace an' quiet.

[wolfishsurvivalist]

It's nice.

[She huffs softly, toeing a rock as she thinks quietly.]

'cept that it's the quiet days when Jezebel gets the most agitated. I think fighting those demons and monsters has gotten to her, I hope it's not catching.

[finestmarksman]

If it makes you feel any better, I'd rather not go around fightin' monsters an' the like. I'd rather spend a quiet day in my workshop.

Like making lightning gloves?

[Mika actually smiles, her tail waving as she cocks her head to look up at him. She'd heard stories of some of his creations, though with Rex it was hard to tell what was the truth and what was embellishments that the locals added for flavor.]

[finestmarksman]

[ Rex is rarely seen without his Miraculous Invention- he's wearing it now even, on his left hand as always. A brown glove that looks fairly ordinary aside from the tubing and the glass orb on the back of his hand. So, maybe not that ordinary at all.

In any case he grins and waggles his fingers at her ] Somethin' like that.

[wolfishsurvivalist]

[Her fur ruffles as she blushes again, shaking her head a little to try and clear it. The weight of her satchel gently bumping against her hip as she walks reminds her of the heavy leather bound book inside it, carefully packed between herbs and tools.]

Makes me wonder if there's something I could be doing, aside from tending to the wards. Don't know what I'd be much good for, though.

Surely there's somethin'. What do you like ta do?

[wolfishsurvivalist]

I don't really know, Rex. Maybe open a bakery or somethin' of the sort.

[She cocks her head as she gives a rock a gentle kick, seeing it skip down the dirt path.]

Never really gave it much thought, I've been so busy since...

[She trails off, her ears twitching.]

Since? Since what?

[wolfishsurvivalist]

Well, since the incident, really.

[She sighs, her ears drooping a little.]

It's been some time since then, and Jezebel made this walking aide for me. It's been very helpful.
