[Running. Sideways had stumbled the first few tries but soon found his footing again - he wasn't going to forget his trade so quickly, after all. He's dashing circles around the warehouse and sprinting back and forth down a wide street for now, testing his legs. The courier's gate is an unusual lope he'd perfected before the war, the reason he can claim that no one outruns him.
Probably an even better sign, he's actually laughing again. Primus but he'd missed this.]
[ Drift is just leaning on the side of the building, watching the other with a faint smile on his face. Tensions had been so high in the Autobot base, he almost wondered if the carefree Sideways he'd first met in Infinity would ever make an appearance again. ]
[It had been hard on him, no doubt about that - those were probably the longest months of his life. But even the war and all its infinite horrors hadn't been able to drag him completely into a hole. Just the act of moving was enough to pull him out and push away everything else. As long as he had his speed, he knew everything would work out right in the end.
He does eventually come to a stop in front of Drift, intakes cycling and a huge grin plastered across his facial plates. His wings twitch happily.]
I'm not trying to flatter you- I'm only telling the truth. [ but he doesn't stand there to see if Sideways is capable of blushing further, he just steps into an open area and transforms ]
W-well thank... thank you. [He's definitely starting to blush more, but finds his way onto a paved spot and folds into vehicle mode himself. Crisis averted!]
[ Drift is no pushover, but Sideways has him beat off the starting block. And well, when he hits those corners? They don't call him "Drift" for nothing. ]
[That is awesome... and distracting. And Sideways is getting used to four-wheel driving again - little more difficult than getting back to the running. He fish-tails a bit on the corners, having to slow himself down to keep in control.]
[ Drift's careful to keep an eye on his friend, making sure he doesn't crash into anything. But, like Sideways though he may, he's not about to let him win. He's gonna have to work for it. ]
[He manages not to crash, if only by virtue of deploying one of his saws for traction. He figures he won't be getting off easy, but he's not going to get reckless just to win. It's all for fun, after all. Though he does try to compensate for the ground he lost by speeding up on the straightaways.]
[He'd figured that Drift would have beat him by a longshot by now; he's pretty amazed that he's kept up. And really, Drift's probably the only one he wouldn't mind losing to. But he's still going to try to beat him back to the warehouse.
[ Drift might have chuckled at that, but it's hard to say over the noise of his engine. It's not a long stretch of road, but he manages an impressive speed- and if Sideways is having to hold back, Drift might just win this ]
[Sideways is naturally a neurotic little thing; he's only concerned about over-taxing his systems. Any other day, he'd be gunning it. And losing to Drift isn't a mark against his pride, he thinks.]
[ And win it he does. Drift pulls to a stop after crossing the finish line, and sits there for a moment, idling. ] If we'd kept to a straight route, I think I'd still be trying to catch up.
[He skids to a stop after crossing the line himself, though he shifts back and forth on his tires a little - almost a smile, if a car could actually manage it.] Oh, you're just bein' nice. And if there had been a few more turns, you would've left me in the dust.
Free at last?
Probably an even better sign, he's actually laughing again. Primus but he'd missed this.]

Th-thanks. It was my job, before the war. Courier. [Sideways puffs up his chest a little, proudly.] No one outruns me.

Now, where should we race to?

Around a couple blocks, and end here, maybe? Just make a big circle... well, rectangle?
