Really. I can't fly or anything, since they're made of fire, but...

[ The silent look of glee and the glint in her eyes pretty much sum it up: Maya, you are awesome and I have got to see these fiery wings of doom someday. ]

I'm going to guess you didn't come here to discuss my powers.

You're right. Although I have to admit that this is a rather riveting topic.

[ She shrugs, then leans in a little. Can't have anyone listening in, after all. ]

How do you feel about taking stuff--possibly without asking politely and possibly by force?

[phaselocknroll]

You mean stealing.

[ A pause, as she crosses her arms over her chest and leans back in her chair. Whatever illusion of serious judgement she has is instantly shattered by the grin that appears on her face and the nonchalant shrug she gives ]

I'm down.

[stealwithit]

[ She watches Maya carefully when she leans back in her chair. From what she'd seen on Pandora, acting outside of the law wasn't exactly a big deal for its residents, but Kasumi hadn't been sure where exactly Maya personally stood on that matter.

So when she responds in the affirmative, Kasumi smiles. ]

That's what I like to hear.

Why do you ask?

Because I'd like to take you with me on a heist, obviously.

Mind you, this is something I don't ask of very many people, ever. So, this is kind of special. Just so you're aware.

[phaselocknroll]

Well, I certainly feel special. Do you want to tell me about it here, or shall we go elsewhere?

[stealwithit]

Not here. Let's take a walk, shall we?

[ Already, she's getting up from her seat. ]

[ She leaves payment for her drinks on her table and stows her book back in her digistruct as she gets up to follow. ]

[ She sees the digistruct at work from the corner of her eye and thinks, that looks ridiculously convenient followed suit by where can I get my hands on one?

In any case, she's leading them out of the bar now, and through the streets (though Kasumi supposes they're really more just... hallways) of the ward, where ironically there's enough of a constant buzz between all the people and the usual goings-on of the businesses and everything else around for a private conversation. Kasumi's walking at a rather leisurely pace, her head turned so she can see Maya while she speaks. ]

I'm guessing you probably aren't all too familiar with classical literature from Earth, yes?

[phaselocknroll]

Not as familiar as I'd like to be, no.

[stealwithit]

Oh, that's alright. You've been pretty far away from Earth for some time now, anyway.

[ A beat. ]

You seen those massive gray guys around--the Elcor? They speak like this, [ she clears her throat and puts on her best deep-voiced Elcor impression ] "Genuine inquiry: how may I help you?"

[phaselocknroll]

I've never even been to Earth.

[ that... was sort of an odd change of subject, but she nods ] Yeah. It was a little jarring at first, but I kind of like them.

[stealwithit]

[ Oof. There's a pause in Kasumi's thoughts when Maya mentions never having gone to Earth, and she just thinks there may not be much of it left if you go. She snaps out of that train of thought quickly enough to hop back onto the Elcor talk. ]

Right? They're oddly endearing, the way they speak in monotone--anyway. They're somehow particularly enamored with one of humanity's greatest writers to ever exist, so much that they're starring in plays that this guy's written. I'll let you think about how strange that might be.

[ There's a point to all this, she promises. ]

I'm more trying to figure out what this has to do with anything.

[ tho the thought of an Elcor play sounds kind of amazing ]

I'll get to it, I promise.

I don't know if you've been paying attention to the news vids while you've been around this part of the galaxy, but Earth's not doing too hot. It's... getting decimated, to be completely honest with you. But somehow, some way, this rich corporate honcho found a way to smuggle one of humanity's most prized items of literature off the planet. A book. Not people, no--he spent millions of credits to extract a book. And he's planning on selling it, because he knows the Elcor will eat this crap up.

I'm not about to let him make a profit out of what happened to Earth and give away something that's so culturally important, you know? So here we are.

[ Ah, all this said by the thief who still has the Mona Lisa. She has good reasons, though. ]

So you want my help to steal a book off of some asshole who's using his own planet's destruction to turn a profit?

I'm so there. When do we start?

[stealwithit]

[ She smiles. ] You got it.

The docks. I've been tracking the ship it's on and it should be docking within the hour. You've got everything you need?

[phaselocknroll]

All right here. [ she pats the digistruct device on her hip ] Lead the way.

[stealwithit]

[ "Seriously got to get one of those," Kasumi mutters under her breath, because it would seriously make her life so much easier.

In any case, she's leading them to the nearest elevator, which they'll spend eternity in with elevator music be taking to the docks. She steps aside before they get on, though, to let Maya step through first because Kasumi is a gentleman. ]

Get ready for the most thrilling elevator ride of your life.

[ She heard that, and makes a mental note to give Gaige a call later.

She steps into the elevator, leaning against the wall ]

Whee. [ yep, still deadpan. ]
