[ sadly, Merida's too used to the wilderness and its dangers to sleep soundly, so the instant he gets close enough, whether it's the faintest rustle of leaves or the tiniest twig snapping underneath his foot, she's awake.

And staring at him. ]

[He just. Kind of freezes and stares back, utterly unsure of what to do.]

[... His social skills are bad enough around acquaintances, let alone a complete (and human) stranger.]

[ how about complete human strangers who are reaching for bows because one doesn't merely meet someone who doesn't wear a kilt or any other clothing signifying a tie to DunBroch or any of the clans? Sure, she's like three seconds awake, but she scrambles further back in case she needs a clear shot and brings the bow up in a warning gesture. ]

[Well, this makes things infinitely more awkward—and more, well, nerve-wracking. Setz remains calm, however, albeit very much on guard. He's fairly confident that he can take out his claws and tear apart the arrow soon enough, but he'd rather not have to fight.]

[ well, obviously you're not a lassie. You're not furry enough.

She lowers her bow a little, though she's still radiating wariness. ]

Are you lost?

... Yes. I don't have any idea where I am, at least.

[Probably best not to say that he comes from a different world entirely.

And, now that his surprise at seeing her fades, he takes a closer look at her. She doesn't seem to have red eyes, from what he can tell. It's the first time he's ever seen someone without red eyes.]

[ it's her first time seeing someone with red eyes. It's a little unnerving, but after witches and bears and talking birds and directional blue fire, Merida's gotten more used to the unknown. She's starting to look more curious than hostile. ]

You're in DunBroch... how you got here, I've no idea, though. You sound a wee bit funny... I can't say I've ever seen the likes of your clothing either.

[Just wait until you see the fangs, Merida. And yes, well, you sound kind of funny to him too.]

I guess they must seem unusual compared to yours...

[Ugh, this was so much easier when he was a kid. Helped that Lark wasn't likely to freak out over him being a vampire—he has no idea how this girl's going to react if she finds out.

Either way, he hopes that she'll relent soon enough, because he would really, really like this to be done with before the day comes.]

[ after a long silence, she sighs and scoots to the side, allowing him room. ]

[But, well, if she's fine with it, then he'll be moving closer, though still clearly wary himself.]

Aye, and it'd be grand if no one lied, wouldn't it?

[ this is clearly going to be one big snuggle pile. A vampire and a princess, except that really only works in romance novels and not when the princess still has dirt smudged on her face and dress and isn't the type to sleep with a bow like a teddy bear. ]

[Yeaaah, Setz is awkwardly trying not to touch her, but that's kind of hard given the lack of space.]

[ she hesitates, but since they're sharing space and she's positive she can defend herself if he tries anything, she might as well. ]

[He opens his mouth, before closing it, remembering that oh right, he already introduced myself.]

[He's pointedly not looking at her, figuring that's the safer way to ensure that she won't realize that he isn't human.]
