[Optimus in his... odd wisdom... has decided to switch things up a little. Today, Sideswipe has been partnered with Ratchet. And Ironhide... rolls out with a little blue Volt in tow.]

[At least they won't have any trouble keeping up with each other. Unfortunately, Ironhide is a lot less talkative than Jolt's usual partner. And so it's a fairly quiet drive down the highway.]

[electrowhipit]

[ Quiet is kind of nice, but after a while it even gets to Jolt. He eventually has to break the silence ]

::... Hey, Ironhide?::

[heavyweaponsbot]

[There's a grunt in response. And for a few seconds, there's nothing else. ... Ironhide is used to talking to Ratchet, who knows his grunts and growls as if they were a real language.]

[But Jolt doesn't.]


:: Yeah? ::

[electrowhipit]

:: I didn't... do anything wrong, did I? ::

[heavyweaponsbot]

:: ... Why are you asking me that? ::

[electrowhipit]

:: I'm just trying to figure out why Optimus... uh, rearranged things. ::

[heavyweaponsbot]

:: Prime knows what he is doing. He has... some reason. Probably figure it out once this is over. ::

[Ironhide, your Prime worship is showing.]

[electrowhipit]

:: All right. If you say so. ::

[ Jolt, your Ironhide worship is showing. ]

[heavyweaponsbot]

[There's a pause, as he drives.]

:: ... and if there was no reason, I will smack his hood in.::

[electrowhipit]

[ Jolt can't help but laugh ]

:: Now there's a mental image. ::

[heavyweaponsbot]

:: What? You do not think I can? ::

[Despite what he's saying, he... actually sounds amused.]

[electrowhipit]

:: Oh no, I know you can. I'm just trying to picture what'll happen after that.::

[heavyweaponsbot]

:: He will pipe down and listen to his elders.::

[... or so he thinks. Hopes.]

[electrowhipit]

:: Uh-huh. Well, if you do go through with that, let me know. I wanna watch. ::

[heavyweaponsbot]

:: Depends on how this mission goes. Figure that out when we arrive back. ::

[electrowhipit]

:: Right-! I think we're getting close to our coordinates. ::

[heavyweaponsbot]

:: Yeah. Brace yourself. ::

[He doesn't explain more than that. They're coming up on a woody area, one which sensors should warn is full of hostiles.]

[... either they're real problems, or just battle drones, remains to be seen.]

[electrowhipit]

[ Not that they were going very fast to begin with, but Jolt slows a little, suddenly thankful for the silence of his electric engine. (For all the good it does him, riding alongside Ironhide) ]

:: I think they beat us here. ::

[heavyweaponsbot]

[In contrast, Ironhide's engine just revs and his horn blares. So much for the element of surprise.]

:: Then get moving, kid. ::

[As he accelerates, straight into the legs of a Decepticon combat drone, as it steps out from behind a tree.]
