[Thor is out and about in full armor and cape, with hammer in hand. Doing the God of Thunder thing, just took down an evil villain, or possibly a publicity stunt with the Avengers, whatever. He's just minding his own God of Thunder business.]

nope! nothing at all!

[ Leif himself is just leaving the office. Of course, it's the middle of the night, because when else does a vampire go out?

When he steps outside, he pauses to check his phone. No calls from Atticus, which is a shame. It doesn't take long for the sound of Thor's flying about to reach his ears, though, and he looks up. ]

What in the--?

[mjolnir_time]

[An unsuspecting Thor will be landing nearby, because his Avengers communicator is beeping and he's been told (more than once) that he can't answer it while flying (because no one can hear him over the wind noise).

And in the process of trying to silence the beeping he manages to terminate the connection. He hasn't quite got the hang of these ridiculous Midgard machines with all their buttons. Oh well, they'll probably call back in a moment. He'll just wait.]

[ Leif has a smart-ass remark- or at least what he considers to be one- on the tip of his tongue, when his eyes land of the Hammer in Thor's hand. He goes very, very still, and his voice goes cold. ]

Who are you?

[mjolnir_time]

[Hello random human. Thor will answer your somewhat rude inquiry.]

I am Thor, son of Odin.

[kicksomeasgard]

[ Glaaaare. This guy doesn't look like Thor,at least not how he remembers him to look. ] That is a heavy claim to make.

[mjolnir_time]

[Thor raises an eyebrow and shifts his grip on Mjolnir slightly.]

It is no claim. It is the truth.

[He would have been offended once, but so many mortals on Midgard are skeptical about the existence of Asgardians that he's getting used to being questioned. He's learned to let their ignorance pass without anger.]

I have given you my name. Will you give me yours?

[kicksomeasgard]

And what would the so-called Thunderer do with my name? Would your arrogance allow you to remember it now, or do you keep no record of those you have wronged?

[mjolnir_time]

[Frowning now, but still not getting angry (mainly because he has no idea what the man is talking about).]

I have spent little time on Midgard of late, and I do not recall meeting you or how I might have wronged you.

[Well, there is one possible explanation...]

Were you affected by the destruction caused by my brother?

I have no idea of what you are referring to. No, this is a hurt far too personal.

[ A beat, and Leif goes tense, fists clenching ]

My name is Leif Helgarson, and if you truly are who you claim to be, I am going to kill you.

[mjolnir_time]

[A blank look at the name, but a definite frown at the threat.]

I have no quarrel with you, mortal. I swear to you in the Allfather's name that I have never met you before, and your name is not familiar to me. If someone has wronged you in my name, then it was not done at my command.

That is a lie. Thor Odinson committed the act himself.

If you are not he, then go back to where you came from before I further lose my patience.

[mjolnir_time]

Then the person who wronged you has lied, for it was not I.

If someone is using my name to cover his misdeeds, then I would very much like to meet this person and have words with him. When and where did this take place?

[ Leif can't help the switch to Old Norse. Staring down the supposed God of Thunder has made him reminiscent in all the bad ways. ] A thousand years ago, in my own home. The God of Thunder struck down my wife and children for the sole purpose stroking his own ego, at the drunken boasting of one poor man.

[mjolnir_time]

[Asgardians speak the Alltongue, so Thor barely notices the language switch (and his replies will probably be heard as Old Norse as well). He does, however, look horrified at what he hears. And then he looks angry.]

Arrogant I may have been once, but I would never commit such a barbaric act! This imposter will pay dearly for daring to use my name in such a way.

[The anger dies down a bit as he start to think about it more.]

A thousand years ago I was not even on Midgard. After the last great war with the Frost Giants, we rarely visited this realm.

They were struck by lightning, you fool. If that is not your doing, then who's?

[ Leif looks angry as well, and if his heart could still beat, he's be red with anger. The glare doesn't lessen, regardless of what Thor says. Even when he stops to think about it himself.

... could this be a Thor, and simply not the Thor? ]

Then why are you here now?

For reasons far too complicated to explain at this time.

[He speaks almost absently, because he's remembering a conversation he once had with Dr. Banner. They had been discussing the many human myths about the Norse gods that had been told long ago, most of which were little more than made up stories as far as Thor was concerned. (The one about Loki and Sleipnir had been especially disturbing.) Much of the discussion had been in the words of mortal science, and went beyond his understanding.

But beneath the science, the basic concept was that a story told often enough, and believed enough, could take on a life of its own. And perhaps while they had remained in Asgard, others had taken their places, and their names, in the mortal realm.

When he speaks again his voice is slightly calmer.]

It may indeed have been Thor the Thunderer who wronged you so cruelly, son of Helgar, but it was not me. The stories that you mortals tell of the gods of Asgard are events that never happened to me or mine.

[kicksomeasgard]

So you are Thor, but you are not.

I am loath to spend any amount of time in the presence of the Aesir, no matter where you are from.

[mjolnir_time]

That seems to be the case, no matter how unlikely.

[He nods in understanding.]

I cannot blame you for that. I promise you though, I will be seeking out this other Thor.

[kicksomeasgard]

[ Leif was about to turn and walk away, but he whirls back to face Thor, fangs bared. ]

You will not. He is mine to seek out.

[mjolnir_time]

He has committed atrocities using my name. I have every right to seek reparation from him.

[Wait... Since when do humans have fangs? And now that he thinks about it...]

How is it you are still alive after one thousand years? Humans do not usually live so long.

[kicksomeasgard]

I am going to kill him for what he has done, and I will let no one stand in my way, least of all one of his doubles.

[ Leif straightens a little, lifting his chin ]

I am a vampire.

[mjolnir_time]

Then if I find him, I will leave him alive so you may seek your revenge.

[He considers the answer for a moment. He has a vague memory of human folklore, but it's not something he's familiar with.]

But you were human once?

[kicksomeasgard]

Give me your word.

[ A scoff, though it's mostly to hide how sad he looks for a brief moment ] Once, a long time ago.

[mjolnir_time]

I swear it. He shall not die by my hand, unless he leaves me no choice.
