Ninja shenanigans

[ there are very few fights where Kasuga has found herself backed - no, slammed into a corner, and she's loath to admit it, but without Sasuke, she can't confidently say she would still be alive.

But she is, and he is, and although their opponent still lives, he's doing so at a safe distance-- far enough for Kasuga to dazedly drag herself up against a nearby tree and fumble for her medical kit. Sasuke-- she'd lost sight of him, and she leans back against the trunk with a ragged breath before she turns her head to see if she can spot him now. ]

Time once agian for another new thread.

[ If he's noticed that she goes looking for him more, which he almost certainly has, he hasn't remarked on it. He just enjoys their time together. He still teases and annoys- it would be weird if he didn't- but there's something gentle in the way he looks at her when he thinks she's not paying attention.

Tonight, however, he can be found alone on a rooftop. The night is clear, and just a little cool. He's just... sitting. Looking at the stars. ]

[ there's a little whoosh of air and a near-silent thump as Kasuga lands behind him, quietly observing before speaking up. ]

I didn't think you were the type.

[ninjamom]

[ He glances back at her ] I don't really do it often, but sometimes it's a nice way to decompress, you know?

[pinupninja]

We all have our own methods. [ she'll step forward to join him. ]

[ninjamom]

What do you do, then? [ He has no objections ]

[pinupninja]

Nothing you can do at night.

[ninjamom]

Do I want to know?

[pinupninja]

... I like looking at the flowers! Don't get any strange ideas!

[ninjamom]

Now, why ever would you say that?

[ He produces a simple white flower- don't ask where he was keeping it- and offers it to her ]

With a question like--

[ o-oh. After an owlish blink, she slowly accepts the flower, twirling it between her fingers. ]

[ninjamom]

[ He just smiles, turning his attention back to the sky. ]

I know where those grow, if you want to see. They bloom at night.

[pinupninja]

If you're so sure you want to leave your stars alone...

[ninjamom]

The stars aren't going anywhere.

[pinupninja]

Then go ahead.

[ninjamom]

[ He gets to his feet, then, and with little more than a quick glance to make sure she's following, he bounds off into the surrounding forest. ]

[pinupninja]

[ she hesitates only long enough to give the area a quick sweep, make sure everything's secure-- and then she's taken to the air to follow him. ]

[ninjamom]

[ It's a pretty fair distance, but then they're just suddenly there. The trees stop abruptly to make way for a field of white flowers, petals open to the moon.

Sasuke perches on a branch, waiting for her to catch up. ]

[pinupninja]

[ and catch up she does, landing right beside him-- and then her breath catches, and she's arrested by the sight spread out before them. ]

Beautiful, isn't it?

I don't know how I could have missed this... but it really is beautiful.

[ninjamom]

[ He takes a seat on the branch, leaning back against the trunk. ]

It doesn't look like anything special during the day. Just a field. But when the sun goes down, it just comes to life.

[pinupninja]

Did you find it during a mission?

[ninjamom]

Yeah. Some enemy scouts were trying to pick their way through this field under the cover of darkness. The white flowers did not help their ability to blend in at all.

[pinupninja]

[ a snort. ] Easy target practice, then?

[ninjamom]

Pretty much.

I've passed by a few times since then, but I haven't really gotten a chance to just stop and look.
