Ninja shenanigans

[ there are very few fights where Kasuga has found herself backed - no, slammed into a corner, and she's loath to admit it, but without Sasuke, she can't confidently say she would still be alive.

But she is, and he is, and although their opponent still lives, he's doing so at a safe distance-- far enough for Kasuga to dazedly drag herself up against a nearby tree and fumble for her medical kit. Sasuke-- she'd lost sight of him, and she leans back against the trunk with a ragged breath before she turns her head to see if she can spot him now. ]

[ you'd think she'd be a little more prepared, but the fact is, Kasuga has never been too good at predicting Sasuke. And from her muffled noise, she wasn't prepared for this either.

... And maybe she's not expecting her response, the way she leans into him, the way she finally yields. ]

[ It's a relief when she responds. He knows this wasn't for nothing. Pursuing this is dangerous, yes, and maybe a little selfish, but he can't help it.

He slips an arm around her waist, and pulls her closer. ]

[ she goes along with it, catching a better grip on his shoulders and tilting her head to kiss him a little more firmly. ]

[ He murmurs his approval, fingers sliding up the back of her neck and into her hair.

At some point, though, he has to pull away. Mostly because he's smiling too much to make any more of the kiss. ]

Um, so. Are we okay now?

[pinupninja]

... You ask some very strange questions, Sasuke.

[ninjamom]

I guess I do. [ he brushes her bangs out of her face. He can't quite seem to school the stupid grin he has on his face. ]

[pinupninja]

[ a sigh; she's struggling not to lean into his touch. ]

What do we do about this...?

[ninjamom]

This? You mean us?

What do you want to do?

[pinupninja]

... I don't know.

[ninjamom]

... Then how about we just take this one day at a time?

Are you all right with that?

[ninjamom]

That's what I've been doing so far. It works just fine for me.

[ninjamom]

Ah... a long time. Somewhere along the line, my teasing stopped being teasing and started being something that I actually wanted.

... [ and she'd never taken him seriously. If this had been going on even during her stay with Kenshin... ]

How was I supposed to pick up anything from a poker face like yours?!

I know, I know. And for a while there, I didn't think it was even an option, so I just stuck to joking.

We were enemies. We both knew that. And even working as allies or within the same ranks, the risks...

There's always a risk.
