log > how are these two so darn cute?

It had been an admittedly strange situation they had all been in - shopping mall, zombies, black outs - it was like a horror film gone wrong.

No one had any explanation for their sudden appearance in the mall, nor did anyone have an explanation for their sudden disappearance from the mall. Just as no one had an explanation for the blue Chevrolet Volt currently parked outside of B.A.B.E.L. headquarters.

For his own part, Jolt was doing what Autobots did best (aside from kicking Decepticon skidplate), and that was hiding in plain sight. Asphalt and sunshine, he decided, were preferable to zombie-laden carpet and the near-darkness of a mall without power. He just didn't like having to wait while Naomi was inside - no doubt trying to explain where the frag she'd been all this time. Jolt'd had a similar problem relaying his whereabouts to - of all mechs - Ratchet. (No doubt the medic thought he was glitched for insisting he'd been fighting off zombies all this time.) But, after much instance, and pleading for Optimus' permission, Jolt was allowed to stay with Naomi for the time being.

The Autobot sighed inwardly. He was still waiting, and he still hated it.

"... We'll just have to begin somewhere." Somewhat taken aback, but no less determined, a resolute Naomi weaved her way through the throng, zeroing in on a group of amiably chattering women.

Unfortunately, her quick movements had several more females glancing in her direction-- and quickly looking from her to her more attractive companion. Eyebrows rose, lips twisted in elegant and interested smirks, and whispering began.

The poor Autobot.

Women were cunning creatures, always knowing when it was best to stay away, and when the time was right to strike. For Naomi, this knowledge applied almost solely to missions. For the women of the bar, this was a mission. Thus they kept an eye on both newcomers until the dark-haired girl was spotted in deep and animated conversation with another group, thus too busy to notice the lionesses were moving in for the kill.

And thus Jolt was subjected to the attention of three curvaceous women, all of whom were reasonable enough not to eye him like a piece of meat.

Mostly.

"We don't get too many boys down here," one of them murmured, pausing to sip from her glass. "And a foreigner, at that. Were you looking for some company?"

[identity profile] kittykinesis.livejournal.com 2009-10-01 08:35 pm (UTC)(link)
"Of course you!" Far from being surprised at his grasp of the language, this only piqued the women's interest further. "In case you haven't noticed, we don't get a lot of... lookers who come here that often. The least we can do is offer you a drink and some companionship-- we Japanese value our hospitality, after all."

It really was a good thing (for them) that Naomi had yet to notice what they were doing. She might not have taken very kindly to it.

There was a moment when Naomi started to glance his way, obviously curious as to how her friend was coping with the environment-- but then one of the other women asked her something, and she brightened and launched into a very chipper description of her supervisor's good traits (very wisely leaving out any obsession with his oldest subordinate).

"You came to a bar, but not to drink. That sounds like you're looking for fun to me." The woman propped a hand on her hip, following Jolt's gaze and quirking an eyebrow. "... Unless you just came here with your girlfriend?"

"... Thank you, I'll make sure he calls you before the weekend," Naomi was saying, pocketing three slips of paper while Jolt's jilted prospects gazed after him with envious eyes.

Completely oblivious to what had just transpired, the esper turned around-- and nearly collided with the hologram. It was almost personal space and then a fall, but she backstepped just in time to catch herself.

"I'm sorry-- did I keep you waiting?"

[identity profile] kittykinesis.livejournal.com 2009-10-02 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
Glancing in that general direction, the girl's puzzled expression cleared almost immediately. Of course-- the poor thing had been thrown to the wolves and survived, but there was no denying that it was a horrifying experience.

Maybe not for most men, she amended, but Jolt wasn't a man.

"Only the ones who like you," she whispered back, leaning in closer. "And you don't think I'm scary, right?"

"... You what?" Naomi was always the flustered maiden when it came to anything romantically implied on her end (not counting supervisors and she was fearless when it came to garnering him female attention), and she automatically blushed-- much to her annoyance.

"Couldn't you have picked a better..." She trailed off, getting the distinct feeling that she was being glared at-- and indeed, all three of the slighted women were now staring at her as though killing her was better than she deserved.

[identity profile] kittykinesis.livejournal.com 2009-10-02 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
"Honestly..." She rubbed her forehead, sighing just as heavily as her companion had. "I guess you did what you had to, but this might be a problem if the same thing keeps happening at every bar. Are you sure you don't want to just stay outside?"

[identity profile] kittykinesis.livejournal.com 2009-10-02 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
"No," Naomi agreed levelly, "it won't." Because if it did, she was going to have to resort to leading him by the hand, and she was certain Cybertronian warriors didn't appreciate being dragged around by teenage girls. Just like teenage girls didn't appreciate older women hitting on their cars--

She paused at that thought. The women couldn't have known, and it wasn't Jolt's fault that he was a lady magnet in this form... so why was she feeling annoyed?

About to dismiss it, she caught sight of the hologram's pout, making a tiny sound in the back of her throat and glancing away. "I know it won't happen again, so... you really don't have to give me that look."

The car got a pat for his troubles (just in case the hologram lost solidity at the wrong moment), and Naomi grinned, giving him a thumbs-up. "Okay, then! We've still got more bars to hit, so let's look lively and give it our best shot!"

[identity profile] kittykinesis.livejournal.com 2009-10-02 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
"How's your hologram doing?" She climbed in and buckled up, digging out her guide out. "Or your energy, I should say. You've gotten a lot better at it, but it still tires you out, doesn't it?"

Not that Jolt couldn't handle it, but she didn't want to drain him.

[identity profile] kittykinesis.livejournal.com 2009-10-02 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
Naomi returned the smile, burying her nose in her guide a few seconds later. She could be heard quietly muttering names and possibilities under her breath, as seriously as she turned when she was training.

Between the two of them and the candidates awaiting them, it was going to be a long night.

"Ready!" The girl bounced out of her seat and onto the curb, turning only to wave her finger warningly (but teasingly) at her friend. "Just remember to behave yourself, okay?"

She didn't give him time to reply, already strolling in with the assumed air of a mature young woman who definitely hadn't been teasing anybody only seconds before.
