log > how are these two so darn cute?
It had been an admittedly strange situation they had all been in - shopping mall, zombies, black outs - it was like a horror film gone wrong.
No one had any explanation for their sudden appearance in the mall, nor did anyone have an explanation for their sudden disappearance from the mall. Just as no one had an explanation for the blue Chevrolet Volt currently parked outside of B.A.B.E.L. headquarters.
For his own part, Jolt was doing what Autobots did best (aside from kicking Decepticon skidplate), and that was hiding in plain sight. Asphalt and sunshine, he decided, were preferable to zombie-laden carpet and the near-darkness of a mall without power. He just didn't like having to wait while Naomi was inside - no doubt trying to explain where the frag she'd been all this time. Jolt'd had a similar problem relaying his whereabouts to - of all mechs - Ratchet. (No doubt the medic thought he was glitched for insisting he'd been fighting off zombies all this time.) But, after much instance, and pleading for Optimus' permission, Jolt was allowed to stay with Naomi for the time being.
The Autobot sighed inwardly. He was still waiting, and he still hated it.

But he reigned his vocals in at the last second, keeping his volume manageable.

"You won't be able to do it for yourself without getting some stares," she reminded him. "I don't mind doing this for you, and I promise it won't take long, so it'll be easier for both of us if you cooperate."
no subject
"Sure- sure I'll cooperate and-" a pause. "Thanks Naomi. For doing this."
no subject
"Just let me know if the water's too cold, okay?" With that, Naomi retrieved her sponge from the water and got to work. She was deliberately careful, scrubbing the accumulated dirt away with gentle strokes and making sure that no square inch on the Volt was left unattended to.

And frag it all, there went his systems again, betraying him.
On the one hand, it was a good thing he wasn't a sports car, on the other hand, the soft purring of his electric engine sounded like just that- purring.
no subject
Of course, that didn't stop her from inquiring innocently, "So it feels good, then?"

And it was true. Jolt had been invaluable during the past few missions, once her supervisor had been filled in on his presence and true nature. Due to Naomi's insistence and Fujiko's support, the Autobot had been allowed to assist on the missions that weren't widely broadcast to the public. In Naomi's opinion, just thanking him would never be enough.

And Jolt would always be a little bit disappointed that he hadn't been there to see Naomi's supervisor's initial reaction to the news that the car he thought had been possessed by the devil was indeed alive. But, at least it made hiding out at B.A.B.E.L. headquarters a little easier now that the key people knew who and what he was and--
Ooh. That felt nice. The purr of the engine deepened in pitch slightly, and the Volt apparently just gave up on trying to save face, because he shifted on his wheels from his earlier embarrassed stance, settling down into one of contentment.
"I could stay like this all day," he murmured.

"They belong to each other now," she'd insisted. "And you would be an absolute idiot to try and come between that."
Naomi hadn't quite understood what she meant, but if Jolt would be able to fight with her, she was fine with that.
She grinned as she obligingly spent more time on the windshield, having to reach and stretch her fingers out to get the end, but eventually succeeding. Now she just had to settle on her feet before she lost her balance.
"I think my hands would fall off if this was an all-day affair," she said contritely. "Although we could probably make this a weekly thing."

The guys at NEST had always handled the Autobots' washing, that was somehow different. There was the spraying of hoses, and laughing, and more often than not, the soldiers ended up just as soaked as their Cybertronian charges. Not that he'd enjoyed it any less, but this was nice in its own way.

At least she was merciful enough to keep it to a stream of water, instead of a high-power blast, only slightly less powerful than the ones fire engines used.

And cold it was, but to his credit, he only flinched a little.
no subject
"Did you want a wax, too?" She offered, figuring it was one way to make up for the necessary evil.
no subject
Oh, that was tempting. So very tempting, but Naomi had done more than enough for him today, and he'd managed to look like a big enough fool to boot. "I'm fine Naomi. This was more than enough."

But oddly enough, it wasn't any comm of Naomi's that was buzzing- it was his. It caught him off-guard for a moment, after going so long without hearing from his comrades- but the voice of a certain Autobot commander quickly set him straight.
With a mumbled apology to Naomi, he took the call on his internal systems quietly.

Eventually, he rolled back-and-forth a little, clearly hesitant about something, before rolling up alongside Naomi. "Sooo-" he said. "How do you feel about fighting Decepticons? ...Well, 'Con. Singular. As far as we know."
no subject
Startled, for one, and recalling memories of past fights with robots. Always a challenge, but none of the missions were ever easy for the espers. She would just be careful until she could verify what she was getting into. Not fighting, however... wasn't an option.
"If there's something you have to take care of, I'm coming along," she said firmly.
no subject
"...I think your superiors will probably be getting a phone call from NEST right about now." That one had been all Optimus' idea. If their organizations were going to work together, best to keep everyone appraised of the situation- again, despite Jolt's insistence that he'd have her back before she was even missed.

"Authorization: Level Six Activated. Limiter release, Wild Cat."
This was followed by a sharp reminder that if the damned car let anything happen to her, there would be hell to pay, but Naomi was already inside the car and buckled in.
"Verified and ready to go," she said cheerfully.

"This is what we've got," he said. "One 'Con, hiding out in an old building site a couple of miles from here. We're still a little fuzzy on his alt or his designation, since there's a lot of construction equipment lying around over there." He shrugged.
no subject
"I wonder why it's hiding here, though," she mused. "I can't think of anything it would want."
no subject
The Autobot pondered on that for a moment, then offered up another shrug. "Who knows? Could be this is just where he happened to land and he's just awaiting orders. If we can take him alive, maybe we can ask."
