log > how are these two so darn cute?

It had been an admittedly strange situation they had all been in - shopping mall, zombies, black outs - it was like a horror film gone wrong.

No one had any explanation for their sudden appearance in the mall, nor did anyone have an explanation for their sudden disappearance from the mall. Just as no one had an explanation for the blue Chevrolet Volt currently parked outside of B.A.B.E.L. headquarters.

For his own part, Jolt was doing what Autobots did best (aside from kicking Decepticon skidplate), and that was hiding in plain sight. Asphalt and sunshine, he decided, were preferable to zombie-laden carpet and the near-darkness of a mall without power. He just didn't like having to wait while Naomi was inside - no doubt trying to explain where the frag she'd been all this time. Jolt'd had a similar problem relaying his whereabouts to - of all mechs - Ratchet. (No doubt the medic thought he was glitched for insisting he'd been fighting off zombies all this time.) But, after much instance, and pleading for Optimus' permission, Jolt was allowed to stay with Naomi for the time being.

The Autobot sighed inwardly. He was still waiting, and he still hated it.

At the slightest movement, Naomi instinctively adjusted her balance, glancing up uncertainly at Jolt as though she wasn't sure what he had in mind.

Then foreheads touched, one soft skin, one warm metal, and she blinked. She'd thought-- she'd hoped-- she'd cried enough to last her for years, but she had to close her eyes against the sudden stinging at the sweetness of the gesture, opting to reach up with both hands to rest her palms on his face.

"It's good to be back."

There weren't many sights stranger than the one that would have met anyone who could have stumbled across them: the gigantic robot with the slip of a girl perched on his hand like some kind of bird, both holding each other in their own ways. But there wasn't anyone around... no strangers to gawk, no supervisors to screech, nobody else.

Naomi preferred it that way, just breathing in the moment before she reluctantly spoke up, almost sleepily.

"You're going to freeze up again if you stay like this."

In her typically affectionate manner, she gently patted the Volt's hood. He'd done a lot today, more than she could have (and would have) ever asked him to do.

"Maybe I am," she replied amiably, "but I didn't want to be sitting up there when you fell asleep."

Curse him-- she was trying her best to keep her weariness from showing, and there he was sounding sleepy and making her feel equally drowsy.

Not-so-successfully covering a yawn, Naomi tapped politely on one of the back doors. "Do you mind if I come in?"

A quick rummage revealed two blankets, thick and neatly folded. Now slightly more used to catching the occasional bit of sleep in Jolt's backseat, it didn't take the girl long to make herself comfortable, half-curled, half-sprawled, and all exhaustion. It wasn't the best condition to be in, but if being utterly drained meant a smaller risk of nightmares, she wasn't about to complain.

"Thanks, Jolt," she mumbled into the seat, precisely three seconds before she fell asleep.

Somehow, Naomi made it through the night with only faintly painful recollections (and not any that she made mention of). Her time with Jolt had helped tremendously with the restoration of her usual good humor and bright smile, despite her occasional lapse. And then came the time to return home.

There was no end to The Children's joy at seeing their older friend seemingly back to normal-- and no end to Tanizaki's wailing that his precious subordinate had been abducted by the lovingly christened "devil car", complete with demands that the rule-breaker never go near her again until Naomi had very neatly settled that argument by having him psychokinetically bond with the closest wall.

When that silenced him for only five seconds before he began to babble about how he'd cried into a body pillow of her during her absence, his very frazzled and highly annoyed charge decided that enough was enough.

Hence why she was now settled outside with a guide to all of the bars in Tokyo.

Naomi lifted her eyes from her choice of reading material, smiling so serenely that it could only mean trouble. "It's a list of all of the bars in the area," she replied sweetly. "I think the only way to keep Supervisor Tanizaki away from me and alive is to find him someone else who's much better than I am. Bars just so happen to be the best places to search." Possibly because the candidates were liquored up enough to be more receptive to matchmaking attempts, but she wasn't bringing that up.

She rose quietly, walking over to the car and leaning down to address him with a very serious expression.

"Jolt-san," she said solemnly, "I would be honored if you helped me out with this." After all the verbal abuse he'd gotten from Tanizaki, Jolt had just as much right to participate as she did. Not to mention that it was always more fun as a pair.

She tried to keep a straight face, she really did, but the car's enthusiasm was too much for her and she succumbed to a laugh. "All right, I'm sorry to keep you waiting!"

Naomi settled in, fastening her seatbelt, and not a moment too soon-- because the doors to the building slid open, and her supervisor appeared.

And gaped.

And promptly shrieked.

"ABDUCTING HER AGAIN?!"

"... He really is going to spend the rest of the day simmering," the girl commented, giving the hologram a sideways glance. "You probably shouldn't encourage him."

She rolled her eyes, muttering something about the strangeness of males, but obligingly consulted her guide. "Let's see... there are two relatively close by, but in opposite directions. Sakura Kiss to the east, Kaminari to the west."

"Sounds like a plan." Naomi flashed him a smile, neatly folding up the guide. "We'll just have to hope that we're just as good at matchmaking as we are at working together at everything else." Not that she couldn't be charming and convincing when she wanted to be (and even when she didn't realize it), but thwarting bad deeds was a lot easier than convincing some poor soul to date Tanizaki.
