Well. Most of the dragons I've encountered or heard about grow inexplicably hostile when approached. Perhaps they find the drawn weapons and grimacing faces unpleasant.

[ It’s at that point that Gajeel stops absolutely dead in his tracks. When he speaks, his tone is low, level and cautious. ] When did you encounter a dragon?

[cultivations]

[ Dorian stops as well, turning to face the other man; there's a wariness in his gaze, though his tone doesn't change in the slightest. ]

A month or two ago, perhaps three. There are several wandering around aimlessly in Emprise du Lion, alone. Quite hostile, actually. Rather fond of attacking trade caravans.

Will this be a problem?

[ironized]

What. Every goddamn dragon in Fiore went missing seven years ago and you're tellin' me you got dragons just wandering around?

[cultivations]

[ He shrugs a shoulder delicately. ]

Perhaps your dragons found their way to Thedas after encountering one too many Dragon Slayers in your land. They're not common, exactly, but it's not unheard of to spot one flying overhead.

[ironized]

I don't actually go around killin' dragons. I was raised by one. He taught me my magic, then he just up an' left one day.

[cultivations]

[ He raises an eyebrow, then continues walking. This isn't the type of conversation one should have with curious onlookers marveling at the appearance of the strange man speaking with the suspected blood mage. ]

I wasn't aware dragons were capable of teaching.

[ironized]

[ There's pause before Gajeel stalks off after him ] Why not? Ya ever take the time to talk to one before?

[cultivations]

Mm, afraid not. Mostly they're rather busy breathing fire in my general direction the moment I step foot into the vicinity.

[ He casts a look at Gajeel over his shoulder. ]

That's a general "I," by the way. My preference would be to give the things a wide berth. Marvelous creatures, of course, but their penchant for setting carts and caravans aflame can leave something to be desired.

[ironized]

Sounds like you got a buncha fire dragons then. Damn.

[cultivations]

As opposed to what, exactly? Fluff dragons? Warm, fuzzy kisses dragons?

[ironized]

Iron dragons.

[ like, duh, Dorian. Keep up. ] When I see Metalicana again, I'm gonna knock 'im upside the head for ditching me. Asshole.

[cultivations]

Metalicana.

[ That's a little on the nose. Or on the snout, as it were. ]

I expect your friend the dragon didn't leave so much as a missive, then.

He was sapient, then? In my experience, dragons seem little more than beasts. Fascinating and lethal and beautiful, to be sure, but their mental faculties seem no more impressive than a common bear's.

[ironized]

[ Don't look at him. He didn't name the damn guy. ]

Then you got a whole other breed of dragon flyin' around. Damn. Guess I won't be solvin' that mystery while I'm here.

[cultivations]

[ Dorian waves a hand. ]

Perhaps our dragons are merely your dragons' oft-ignored inbred cousins. It would logically follow, given their inexplicable acts of rage, should someone so much as place a toe in their territory.

[ironized]

[ He gives an amused snort. ] You paint one hell of a picture.

But I ain’t here for dragons anyway. I’m here ‘cause you guys got holes in the sky.

[cultivations]

[ He offers a noncommittal hum. ]

That we do. And in overabundance.

[ During this time, Dorian has led him through the main hall (to further curious glances and whispers from soldiers and nobles alike), up a set of stone steps, to a corridor lined with doors. Evidently the private quarters. ]

I believe the furthest room is unoccupied.
