[ Stop being cheeky, Ian. ]

In all seriousness, I'm a Raptori. I was not created in some laboratory, I was raised in a Raptori village, with a dozen or so nestmates. Just and you and your kind descended from primates, me and mine descended from the Old Ones- dinosaurs, I think you call them.

Obviously we don't exist here.

[enraptored]

Obviously.

[ yeah. Obviously. ]

You wanna explain to me how the hell you found yourself here, then?

[wavewalker]

The truth of the matter is I'm not entirely sure myself. I was running along, everything sort of shifted, and I found myself face-to-face with an Old One.

[ He pauses, head tilted upward, nostrils flaring, before heading off further into the trees. ]

If I were a halfway decent Raptori, it would have been quite the religious experience.

[enraptored]

[ that. makes him pause. ]

You're saying you saw a raptor? Do you remember where?

[wavewalker]

[ That makes Ian pause, and he turns to regard Owen ]

Suppose I did. What would you do with that information?

[enraptored]

I just wanna know if she's okay. Place is crawling with InGen's crews -- any encounter between the two of them won't turn out well.

[wavewalker]

[ Another pause, as he regards Owen levelly. Then he gives a twitch of his tail and starts off through the brush again ]

You know, I don't believe I ever got your name.

[enraptored]

[ well if you're going to be dodgy, then two can play at that game. ]

You didn't. It's not important for you to have it.

[wavewalker]

What do you expect me to call you, then? "Man".

If I'm to lead you to the Old One, I would appreciate two things- one, I would quite like to know your name, and two, I would quite like to get dressed first.

[enraptored]

I expect you to call me "Sir."

[ He jerks his head in the direction of the jungle. ]

Find your gear, then.

[wavewalker]

Rude. If you hadn't gotten me out of there, I would be greatly disinclined to do you any favors.

[enraptored]

I didn't ask you for any favors. I asked about the active status of a Velociraptor.

[ Because if the guy is going to be suspicious, Owen has every right to be, too. Articulate Ian may be, but that's certainly no reason to be overly trusting. ]

If anything, I'm doing you a huge favor, and then some. I'm about the only friendly face you're going to see on this island. The rest of the men here will want to strap you to a table and dissect you like a sixth grade science project.

[wavewalker]

I am well-aware of what they wanted to do to me. I sat there in that cage for days, listening to them talk about it like I didn't understand.

You let me out of there, it's true. I'm indebted to you for that, but that doesn't mean I trust you.

[enraptored]

Alright, then. That makes two of us.

[ much chat. so kind. ]

[wavewalker]

Now, I'll take you to the Old One, if you're so desperate to see her, but if you make any move to hurt her or me, I will hurt you first.

[enraptored]

What makes you so sure you can even track her?

[wavewalker]

I may be removed from her by millennia, but I’m no less a hunter. [ And he taps a finger to the side of his nose for emphasis. ] I’ll find her, provided she doesn’t find us first.

[enraptored]

And provided you don't run into a tree before you find your glasses.

[wavewalker]

All I ask is that you have some mercy on the poor, blind Raptori should he accidentally smack you with his tail. [ “Accidentally”.

He heads further into the trees, pausing every now and then to get his bearings. It’s been a long while since the men who captured him carted him to the camp, but the scents are still lingering. Eventually they come to a large tree, and Ian shimmies up the trunk with surprising skill, vanishing into the branches. A few moments later, he drops back down to the ground, fully dressed, glasses secure on his face, a sword and a simple flintlock pistol hanging from his belt. ]

I feel so much better now.

[enraptored]

[ Owen's gaze drops to the gun and sword. His tone is a little more than sardonic. ]

Yeah. Same here.

Where to now? You got a helicopter stashed up here somewhere? Hang glider?

[wavewalker]

Considering I don’t know what a “helicopter” is, I’m going to say no.

This is about where the Old One and I parted ways. She headed that way. [ He points. ] We may have to do a little looking before I can pick up her trail, considering it’s been several days. Do you have any other snide comments to add or can we go?

[enraptored]

[ A pause. Then, ]

Blue. Her name is Blue.

Go on, then.

[wavewalker]

[ That… actually makes Ian pause. His expression loses its edge of annoyance, and he regards Owen levelly. (Well, as levelly as he can at 5’5”.) ]

Tell me honestly, what is she to you?

[enraptored]

[ Owen returns the gaze easily enough. He's stared down four a full-fledged Velociraptors and survived an Indominus Rex. He can certainly maintain eye contact with some short, near-sighted raptor hybrid with a weird shock of blonde hair. ]

I just feel responsible for her. That's all you need to know.

[ or it's all he feels like sharing. ]

I'm just here to make sure she's alright.

[wavewalker]

[ He keeps his gaze on the man a moment longer, looking for a hint of a lie. He finds none, and that seems to mollify him for the moment. ] She seemed to be fine when I ran into her. Let’s hope that after capturing me, those men abandoned their search for her.
