[ A hand of Kasumi's reaches up to cup Maya's cheek, brushing her thumb affectionately against her cheekbone as she lets out an airy little laugh. ]

There's nothing for you to apologize for. It was nice.

[ Soo hey she's going to lean up and kiss Maya again for that. ]

[ Oh. Okay this is good. Maya can live with this.

She doesn't want to put her hands anywhere near Kasumi's hood- she'll let Kasumi make that call, if she wants to- so she wraps her arms around the thief's waist, tugging her closer. ]

[ She sure is getting the hang of this kissing thing pretty quickly.

Which is all good to Kasumi, naturally, and she smiles against the kiss when she feels Maya's arms around her.

Although she can't resist but pull away soon after just to sneak in another cheeky comment. ]

This isn't kissing under the stars or in an enchanted forest or a castle like in those books, but I'd say this is just as good, yeah?

[ She laughs a little, arms still looped around Kasumi's waist to keep her close ]

This is much better than any book.

[ a chuckle escapes from Kasumi's lips, but they soften into a small, sincere smile, and the look in her veiled eyes says as much. ]

... I really like you, you know?

I'd hope so, considering what just happened.

[ but her expression softens into something warm and fond ] I really like you, too.

Even though you've never really seen all of my face, huh?

I'm touched.

I don't need to see your face. You bring me books, you make me laugh, you-- you're wonderful.

You forgot "you broaden my horizons," but I'll accept that.

[ she presses another quick kiss on Maya's lips. ]

You're amazing.

Speaking of... I uh. I don't know what's supposed to come after the kissing and the uh. The "I like you"s.

[ ... On the one hand, Kasumi thinks that's endearingly adorable, but on the other... She doesn't know how to respond to that.

She's spent so much time resigned to the fact that there would never be another after Keiji, that probably, the galaxy would end before anything like that would happen. So she's at a loss, but at the same time, it's nice, having someone you want to be with even amidst the galaxy's impending doom. ]

I guess there isn't really something that's "supposed" to happen. We just see where it takes us.

Say, maybe we... Stick together, when we can.

[ a beat. ]

But if you're talking about right here and right now? Well...

I'm okay with seeing where this goes.

[ and she quirks an eyebrow ] Do you have an idea about right now?

I know you said you don't need to see my face, but I'm pretty sure you're going to have to at some point whether you like it or not.

[ though hey making out with the hood on can be a thing for sure ]

--Did you read that one novel I sent you? The one with the big, beefy guy without a shirt on and with long hair on the cover?

[ because that might also be an apt reference for 'what happens next.' ]

[ And as for that second part... Maya just goes bright red ] I. Uh. Yes. Why?

[ She bites her lower lip to hold back another smile. ]

Oh, nothing. Just curious.

That would be something you would have to be ready for, of course. It's not my goal to make you feel uncomfortable.

But if you wanted to... stay. For the night. I um. I wouldn't say no.

I don't sleep with the hood on, by the way.

[ She gives a little laugh, stepping away finally to sit on the edge of the bed ] I didn't think you did, but I'm not here to judge.

[ She laughs, her gaze following Maya as she moves towards the bed, and she takes a brief moment to--finally--slowly reach up, her fingers grasping at the edges of her hood, and she says not a word as she pulls it back and lets the hood drop down to her shoulders. ]

Well, there we go.

[ Maya just smiles ] Just as I thought.

You're lovely.

Hope this isn't too big of a gamechanger, like "oh, I've seen her face, all the allure of mystery is gone now."

[ She steps closer, standing in front of Maya and placing her hands on her shoulders. ]

I figured if anyone tried to bother you about me, you could just kick their asses. Right?

As if there was any doubt.

[ Maya reaches up, brushing the fingers of her bare hand along Kasumi's hairline ] If anyone ever tries to use me to get to you, I'll incinerate their brain.

[ She smiles, one hand reaching up to rest atop Maya's. ]

Good, because I'm wanted in at least twelve systems.
