There's so much he told her, and yet she feels like she doesn't know a lot at all. Obviously Makoto had gone out into the ocean to help that swimmer, but had he frozen up like he had when they'd first raced? Had he gotten hurt? Had either of them almost drowned? Just what was he feeling right now, to come back from all of that? Relieved? Sad? Determined? She can only imagine how he would have felt if things had gone for the worse, but she also imagines that he would have had a hard time just running into the ocean to save a friend in the middle of a storm.
