[ so the thing was, Makoto didn't get sick. It took a series of unfortunate events, a moment of stress-induced weakness, and doing the idiotically chivalrous thing of trying to make her way home in the pouring rain and likely spending too much time in soaked clothing, despite Kise's best efforts.

But the point was, Makoto didn't usually get sick, and when she did get sick, it had to be sick enough to buckle her knees and keep her under her covers with a fever that could warm cold palms in an instant. She'd tried to go to work, but hadn't made it further than her own doorway before she'd gotten too dizzy to stand without the aid of the frame and had been promptly ushered back to bed.

And of course, she hadn't wanted to worry Kise, but that had backfired and for some inexplicable reason, she felt worse than ever. She'd have to change the compress again, she thinks distantly, as she tries to push herself up on her elbows to give him a properly chastising look. At the very least, her parents were now out for one of her dad's races, but... ]

You... really didn't have to come.

[ what if she's contagious? It's bad enough that she feels awful and she's sweaty and her hair's a mess and her face is all red and this isn't very romantic at all-- ]

[ yeah, it... does kind of fail, but Makoto doesn't need thanks of any sort. She's just relieved that he slept, smiling reassuringly as she strokes the back of his hand with her thumb. ]

[He's feeling okay enough to try to pantomime 'better' for her. Which also probably fails but. Yeah, he tried. He tries so hard.

The thing is, it's even harder to try to pantomime 'don't you need to go home?']

And he's going to try again. This time forcing his voice except that's not really a good idea so he ends up having to take a moment to try to calm down his throat. God, this sucks but he's not giving up yet! Dumb decision #23437 coming right up!]

It's okay, it's okay! [ time to squeeze his hand again, taking on an earnest tone. ] You really don't have to talk!

['But' his puppy eyes seem to say. His throat, however, sends strong signals of no shut up Kise don't do it. And for once, he listens. Because the last time he didn't he ended up throwing up.

He still looks pretty unhappy about it though.]

You might not believe me, but you look a lot better than you did! I mean, there were a few times I really wanted to call the hospital...

[He can't quite believe her, save that Makoto is earnest and sincere if nothing else. So it might be true. He feels awful, of course, but he's also aware she gets carried away sometimes doing things for him so he's taking it pretty lightly. Oh Kise.
