When Kia and Cal decide To Do Things

[ it figures, that even with Break's (long-awaited) willingness to engage in a dance with his mistress, something would still manage to cut the lesson short. And it wasn't him stomping on her feet or refusing to let the instructions stick, but something bigger. Much more catastrophic.

Well, Sharon had decided. She wasn't going to let that single aspect of that night be colored with unsavory memories. Those she would not soon forget, but today, she'd rather not dwell on them. She wouldn't think, similarly, of her lack of finery, that Break's hair was likely to be its usual wild mess. The memory of a dance, fulfilled, was what she sought, and Break was going to help her obtain it, whether he liked it or not.

So she waits in the drawing room, furniture subtly moved aside to clear a decently-sized space, a chair left near the door in case the sudden shift threw off Break's balance-- though she expected he'd navigate himself just fine.

And she continues to wait. Unseen beneath her skirts, one foot taps. ]

Come now, Lady Sharon, such an expression does not suit at all!

[He's guessing from her tone but.

Good at guessing still, that's for sure.]

And what may we do to return a smile to that face?

[...but no he...can't really deny her request, can he? But he can most certainly waffle.

He did put his hand in hers that night, and their dance had been interrupted, but he...

...Can he still put that burden on her shoulders?

But then, he did once before, did he not...?]

...And do you now insist on a dance, Lady Sharon?

It is an unfavorable situation, to say the least--

What can I say, but to evoke the very evocative saying--I do believe I simply possess two left feet.

[...possibly.

But he simply...sighs, shaking his head, and offering her his hand. He can be...a gentleman. Ish. When he has no other choice.]

I apologize, then, that your dance partner is so poor, my Lady.

[...it is a little hard.

The soft hand of his lady, no longer rounded in childhood, now elegant with age.

She's no longer a child, and he can imagine her face clearly.]

...Very well, Lady Sharon. I shall remain, on such account, mute.

[...]

Perhaps instead we shall...begin?

[he can't help but think that the humbleness of this must fail to meet her expectations. There is no music, no fancy dress, no lights and no observers.

Surely his lady must be disappointed with this.

But on the other hand, Break finds it to be...charming. A charming humbleness, as he is nudged into the steps of a dance, and it's not that he can't dance, not truly, it's just that he's never devoted his attentions to learning steps and stepping in time.

And all he can do here is try, for once, and allow his lady to nudge him into proper paths.

It is far from perfect, and it is terribly humble--but it is a dance.]

[He cannot see the smile; he cannot really see anything at all. But he can feel her hand clasping his, can sense, in a way, the warmth of someone he has treasured for so long, and his expression is almost softly fond as he "looks" at her and for once follows, instead of leading.

How he wishes he could see her smile.]

...Is this suitable, then, Lady Sharon?

[...It is a lightening of his heart, it truly is. She is helping him to see what he can no longer see, and without any large fuss. She is doing so much for him, and for the first time he is completely content with his decision to tell her of his blindness.

She is strong enough.

And so he merely bows over her hand, low, brushing his lips across it in a feather-light mockery of a chivalrous kiss.]

I am yours to command as always, my Lady.

[He lingers there for but a brief moment before straightening and retreating a step or two; however, he can't deny the sentimentality that was in that very action--that has been in each of his actions from the start in this room.]
charientisms: (♙ with a little patience)

[personal profile] charientisms 2013-02-10 07:26 pm (UTC)(link)
[He is not above teasing her in the least, but he can't be sure that she's blushing even now--

Though he suspects, and suspects strongly. Regardless, it is a return to normality, and his smirk is more normal as well.]

And how would my Lady wish her tea this afternoon?

[things do feel better. He can't deny that--it's as if a weight has fallen off of his shoulders. He cannot say if it will remain that way...but for now, he can stand taller.]
charientisms: (♙ waiting with lidless eyes)

[personal profile] charientisms 2013-02-26 07:24 pm (UTC)(link)
[And he merely offers a simple bow, eyes closing briefly.]

As you wish.

[And then he will leave, walking out of the room and breaking the spell that had been laid by the strange ritual they'd taken part in.

But it mattered little that it'd been broken, because despite everything, it seemed the feeling would linger.]
