It's fine, really. It's actually a welcome change. [ Actual childlike innocence is so rare- and usually those sorts of questions come with racist undertones, so it's a bit refreshing.

But being outside, in the quiet, is also refreshing. ]

I have to admit, I didn't think I would meet you like this again, Korra.

It's great to see you again too! I couldn't imagine you actually showing up here of all places, but at least it's for the better.

[She gives a somewhat sheepish grin]

No one's going to make you stay here at least.

I would not even know where to start. Besides the fact, I think I rather stick out.

[aerify]

Well, we can always start with dinner with the family in a few hours. You'll love Pema's cooking, trust me! She won't mind the new company even if you do stick out.

Ah, so this must be what actually hospitality is like. After years in Kirkwall, I'd nearly forgotten. [ Is that a smile? It's close. ]

I would be glad to join you, if you'd have me.

[aerify]

There isn't a reason to say "no." I think you'll be able to settle in easily after everyone else sees you're an okay guy.

And afterwards, I'll show you around Air Temple Island. It might be quick since all the real action is in the city.

[She stretches her arms out and and looks around at the grounds-- Oh, look! Flying bison!!]

[hopesillusion]

I--- [ his train of thought promptly derails because what ]

What is that?

[aerify]

Oh, that? [Looking up, shielding her eyes from the sunlight. The bison lets out a low noise from its mouth, interacting with the few others in the air]

Those are sky bisons! I believe there's a good number that live here. Tenzin uses one of them to ride on.

[hopesillusion]

Sky... bison. I guess I shouldn't be surprised. I have met Naga, after all.

[aerify]

From what I gather from Tenzin and the kids, airbenders would choose a sky bison and they'd become lifelong companions. I think that's just an Air Nomad thing though. I already have Naga after all.

Fun facts aside, is there anything specific you'd like to know?

Honestly, I'm still reeling from the culture shock. I would like to see this city of yours eventually, though.

[aerify]

We'll get there eventually. [As long as the Equalist stuff doesn't get in the way, because man those guys...]

It is a lot to take in though huh?

[She felt the same way about having to be repressed in Kirkwall and all]

It is. From what I've seen already, it seems like the opposite of Kirkwall.

... Though the flying bison are in a category of their own.

[aerify]

[She shrugs] Every city has their own problems, even Republic City. Although, yes, Kirkwall was... kind of extreme.

[To say the least.]

[hopesillusion]

I won't begrudge you that. It was bordering on extreme even by Thedas' standards.

[aerify]

[She laughs a bit] And people say I go overboard!

[yes, yes you do]

Anyways, my job here is to make sure things don't slide down the extreme scale. So, as long the Avatar is around, things will totally be okay!

[Korra says this with some cheerful confidence; casual as it is, she does know that things are getting dire and she'll have to act sooner or later]

That seems like a heavy burden to be placed on one so young. [ He knows how that goes, in a way. ]

Well.. yeah! But every Avatar before me has had the same duty throughout their lifetimes, so just going with tradition here!

[hopesillusion]

I'm not here to question your traditions. It was just an observation on my part.

[aerify]

Fair enough.

I'll show you around the rest of the island before we head to the city. And as for where you'll be staying, you'll have a room that's usually for the acolytes.

[hopesillusion]

Acolytes?

[aerify]

[Points to one of the men and a woman chatting together as they pass through one of paths outside. They're wearing distinct orange-yellow robes, just like Tenzin and family.]

I meant the Air Acolytes. They're kind of like those Chantry people at that temple in Kirkwall. [Well, close enough.] But they basically carry on and follow the teachings of Air Nomads and their cultures and traditions.

[hopesillusion]

Ah, that makes sense. They do not mind the intrusion?

[aerify]

Well, they deal with Ikki and Meelo on a daily basis. I think they can handle you.

[hopesillusion]

I'd hope so. I like to think I can be fairly low-key.
