She already dislikes you for trouncing her Templars. Don't make it worse.

[Making a grumbling noise along the lines of "they started it!" She holds back on that thought though.]

I'll just go look after Naga before they can condemn a polar bear dog for being big, white, and furry.

[hopesillusion]

Korra... [ sigh ] I know, I know. You've ended up in the worst possible place, but please, let me try to help you.

[aerify]

And I'm grateful for it! Just... [taking a deep breath because arguing is never going to get her anywhere]

I'm just going to Naga now. Someone needs to feed her.

[And off she goes to her buddy :|]

[ Argh. This is so frustrating.

He's just. Going to go talk to Meredith on his own. Probably get yelled at, but he's not going to let the Knight Commander keep her here. ]

[aerify]

[She is a frustrating young Avatar although it's not just the system she's angry towards she's kind of frustrated with herself. Korra has always been confident about her physical abilities, but ever since she's been embroiled in the Republic City conflict and with her recent tussle with Tarrlok she keeps getting reminded how her peacemaking skills really aren't that good.

And she has to ask herself: Aang, what would you do?

She's brought Naga out to the courtyard, brushing her fur with a brush that she asked for.]

It can't be too much to ask for a walk right...?

[hopesillusion]

[ The courtyard is probably close enough to Meredith and Orsino's respective offices that she can hear their raised voices. The way that people give the shouting no more than a token acknowledgement suggests this isn't the first time this has happened.

Orsino emerges into the courtyard a short while, looking well and truly angry. ]

[aerify]

[She and Naga look up immediately when they see the First Enchanter. Korra was prepared to ask him questions such as CAN SHE GET THE HELL OUT?!

But. Yeah, his expression isn't promising so she actually keeps quiet while grimacing.]

[hopesillusion]

Korra. [ That came out a little harsher than he wanted. He takes a breath and composes himself. ] May I see you and Naga in my office, please?

[aerify]

Sure. Might as well know how things have turned out exactly.

[hopesillusion]

[ To his office, then! He'll wait until the door is closed behind them. ]

You can probably guess that didn't go well.

[aerify]

I definitely wasn't hearing any good shouting.

[hopesillusion]

Meredith outright refuses to let you leave the Gallows. She's even upset I let you out of the tower to wander around.

We're on our own in this.

[aerify]

[AUUUUGH]

Then what does she have planned for me?! She can't just end things like that!

[God is this what it's like to feel crushed? And then the full reality actually gets to her]

... Is this how she treats all the mages? When are you even allowed outside??

[hopesillusion]

It's not ending here. I won't see you locked up here.

[ He heaves a sigh, sounding a little resigned. ]

It's... complicated. I'm not going to ask you to understand, or become involved. It's clear you have your own matters that need attending.

[aerify]

Thank you. [She manages a small gesture of gratefulness even if things feel hopeless. She's surprised Orsino's doing this for her sake after all.]

I'm sure we'll figure something out.

... I wish I could help someway. What's happening here is like... never mind. You're right, we need to focus.

[hopesillusion]

We have to-- [ And that's when the relative calm of the mid-morning is shattered by someone screaming. Orsino bolts for the door and heads outside.

It doesn't take long to spot the absolutely massive Pride Demon looming over the remains of a pair of Templars. ] Damn-!

[ Neither does it take long for Orsino to hurl a fireball at it to draw its attention ]

[aerify]

WHOA!!!

[She leaps onto Naga's back and the pair rush outside to see the ruckus.

WELL. The Pride Demon is nothing like anything Korra's seen before. ]

What... what IS that!? [Naga growls at the demon making a predatory stance while Korra jumps off her animal guide]

[hopesillusion]

A demon.

They reside in the Fade, and mages can often fall prey to their influence. [ There's a resigned sort of bitterness in his tone ] You can see now why they keep us locked up.

[ WELP. Time to stroll on up to this demon like a boss. ]

[aerify]

Let me help!

[Instead of waiting for confirmation though, she stomps on the ground and a large piece of earth levitates from the ground- she kicks it at the demon to knock it down]

[hopesillusion]

[ The demon catches the piece of earth with its face, and goes stumbling back. Orsino whips around to face her, startled, and for a split second, it looks like he's going to say no. Instead he gives a curt nod. ]

Don't leave my sight, and whatever you do, don't speak with it. Dealing with demons will always end badly.

[aerify]

Fine! Just tell me the best way to get rid of it!

[hopesillusion]

Throw everything you've got at it and hope it's enough.

[ With that, he reels back and looses a stream of fire from his hands. The demon holds up an arm to shield its face, letting out a roar of frustration as its flesh catches fire. ]

[aerify]

[She's adding more flames, leaping across the air and pumping out her arms to shoot her own stream of flames]

[hopesillusion]

[ He pauses for a brief moment to see if he can sense a shift in the Fade when she uses her abilities. Nothing, but with the presence of a demon, things are bound to be skewed.

The demon cries out again, uprooting a stone bench from somewhere and flinging it at Korra ]
