[Korra pants heavily, but she's still got enough energy in her to keep going- what it's saying however is kind of hard to hear after it's smashed and Naga's come to her defense letting out a fearsome roar at the demon]

wavewalker: (where Tragedy goes)

[personal profile] wavewalker 2012-10-10 07:38 am (UTC)(link)
You may want to take a seat. I'll summarize the best I can, but it's sort of involved. [ And he'll wait for her to take a seat somewhere before launching into his tale ]

It's been quite a while for me- a year at least- since I came back from the town.

In that time, I helped take down a goddess at the behest of her brother. Tragedy, the goddess in question, had not only sealed away her sister, Mercy, to keep her from interfering, but she would travel the land, razing entire villages to the ground. The residents of which all went missing, never heard from again. It'd been popular opinion for years that they were simply dead.

[ A beat ] My home was destroyed by her, some six years ago.

But the god of death, and Mercy and Tragedy's brother, Gatekeeper realized that the people that Tragedy claimed no longer stepped through his Gate. Tragedy was keeping their souls, putting them in construct bodies of steel-coated bone. She was creating an army.

Long story short, a few others and myself set out to confront Tragedy and free Mercy at Gatekeeper's request. Mercy was freed, a friend of mine became a god, my First Mate met his lovely bride-to-be, and Gatekeeper approached me with an ultimatum- I could step through his Gate at that moment, and be reunited with the loved ones I had lost, or I could help him track down the remains of Tragedy's scattered forces and put their souls to rest.

My loved ones would be waiting for me, and there was no need to waste the years I had left, so I offered my help. Gatekeeper has an annoying sense of humor, because he gave me the ability to sense the lost souls I'm seeking, via a mark on my shoulder, which acts as a sort of compass. It hurts initially, either to make sure I'm paying attention or to make sure I don't shirk my duties. Either way it's obnoxious, and I'm still not used to it.
wolfishsurvivalist: (Um guys are you sure about this)

[personal profile] wolfishsurvivalist 2012-10-10 07:48 am (UTC)(link)
Well considering you had to listen to me go on about nonsense on more than one occasion, it's the least I can do.

[She does find herself a perch, cocking her head at him as her ears angle towards him, giving Ian her undivided attention.

As his story goes on, her lips twist in either disbelief or an attempt to stifle her own comments, her ears flicking back at times before they tilt forward again.
]

Well, it could be worse, I guess? Losing everyone, though? That's harsh. Did you ever find out why she was building this golem army, though?
wavewalker: (so why IS the rum gone?)

[personal profile] wavewalker 2012-10-10 07:55 am (UTC)(link)
Not as such, since it ended in a confrontation between siblings. I can only assume that Tragedy meant to remove those who set limits on her. She's a wild, vengeful thing, who truly delighted causing havoc.

wolfishsurvivalist: (You've got to be kidding)

[personal profile] wolfishsurvivalist 2012-10-10 08:22 am (UTC)(link)
Well with a name like that, it doesn't really surprise me.

[She huffs, her ears folding back.]

Still, though...I'm sorry.
wavewalker: (most adorable pirate ever)

[personal profile] wavewalker 2012-10-11 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
[ He shrugs ] Old wounds, Mika. After all I've been through, I can hardly let them hold me back any more.
wolfishsurvivalist: (Bittersweet nostalgia)

[personal profile] wolfishsurvivalist 2012-10-11 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
You're a stronger person than I am, then. Not that that's new.

[She huffs, leaning over to buff her cheek against his shoulder.]
wavewalker: (Default)

[personal profile] wavewalker 2012-10-11 05:03 pm (UTC)(link)
You're stronger than you give yourself credit for.

... You know, you're part of the reason I stayed.
wolfishsurvivalist: (Whuzzah?)

[personal profile] wolfishsurvivalist 2012-10-11 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Eh... [She makes a face, shrugging a little as she ducks her head.

Until he surprises a huff out of her.
]

What? What do you mean?
wavewalker: (and that's how Anwell does his hair!)

[personal profile] wavewalker 2012-10-12 06:20 am (UTC)(link)
I remembered. Mayfield felt like a dream, but I knew- it had to be real. As easy as it would have been to step through the Gate and put this life behind me, I realized there were people in the here and the now who cared for me, and though they may be worlds away, I decided to go on with the hope that we'd see each other again.

And now here you are.
wolfishsurvivalist: (Bittersweet nostalgia)

[personal profile] wolfishsurvivalist 2012-10-12 04:52 pm (UTC)(link)
It is rather surprising, isn't it.

[She huffs, her tail waving as her gaze falls to the deck.]

So many years swearing I'm not crazy, then getting trapped in another town full of people who were practically lifted straight from books? I didn't tell anyone about it, I didn't dare. You and some of the others...you were the only ones who'd heard what happened and hadn't immediately told me it was impossible, or that I was crazy. I needed that, I needed it desperately. I'm glad to be here, I missed you.

I'm really, really glad I could come with you.
wavewalker: (Default)

I'm alive I swear

[personal profile] wavewalker 2012-10-14 07:10 am (UTC)(link)
Me too, Mika. Me too.

I guess that goes to show that good things can come out of even the most terrible of circumstances.
wolfishsurvivalist: (Giggling isn't a crime!)

It's okay, I got kidnapped by family for a weekend, durp

[personal profile] wolfishsurvivalist 2012-10-14 05:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Funny, I've never had something like that happen before. Usually it only gets worse, so this is new for me.
wavewalker: (and that's how Anwell does his hair!)

[personal profile] wavewalker 2012-10-15 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
In that case, I'm glad the powers-that-be decided to give you a break.

SURPRISE GALLOWS TIME

[personal profile] recluserose 2012-10-19 06:47 am (UTC)(link)
[To whoever visited Amelia's comfy home in Blackgale and knew about her being a witch... well, there was always more space than there appeared. It was her mentor's old place of residence after all so even after 50 plus years she's pretty sure she's barely explored all the doors that appeared in the endless hallway. Amelia had been able to keep track of a good number of them, but every once in a while she found a surprise.

The door that led to a library located in another continent and world altogether was one of them. It's a recent discovery and slowly she's learning about this "Thedas" and the city of Kirkwall and the misfortune of magic users here known as the Gallows.

Amelia kept herself out of sight and mind from these mages elves and human. Obviously, being a magic user was a negative thing if they had to be present in this location at all time while being guarded by these Templars. Definitely didn't want any trouble here. How on earth would she explain HER kind of magic?

But the lure of books filled with the history and culture of this new and fantastical (if dangerous) world called to her and she makes her third visit longer than the first two (a few hours each of being discreet and listening and not even setting foot outside and reading through choice books quickly).

She's supposed to be careful, but soon the history of Grey Wardens, dwarves, the Chantry, and magic engulf her. Amelia sits surrounded by piles of books immersed in these pages.

And promptly forgetting that her invisibility spell has just wore off and that her red hair, spectacles, and different clothing would make her stand out...

[ Really, going to the library was more of an excuse than anything. The more Meredith ground the mages under her heel, the less Orsino found himself leaving his office. Any change of scenery is welcome at this point- and it's quiet.

Orsino himself is just padding around, only giving the books a cursory look. The shock of unfamiliar red hair catches his attention, however, and he has to stop. He's behind whoever it is, but even so, he can't say they're familiar to him.

One hand drifts towards his staff, ready to make a grab for it as he clears his throat. ]

[She must be REALLY into this book because she doesn't peel her eyes off the page and even makes a dismissive gesture with her hand.]

Just ONE more paragraph and I'll go, goodness! Let's see... "No one, for instance, has found any means of traveling-either over great distances or small ones-beyond putting one foot in front of the other." Well, no it can be poss--

[Okay something clicks and she looks up at the source of the noise]

... Oh.

[ Staff forgotten for the moment, Orsino crosses his arms over his chest, giving her a look that usually makes the younger mages wilt. ]

Yes, "oh". Care to explain who you are and what you're doing here?

[Nonetheless, she is older than she appears and has experience with younger students. So she just curtly replies]

My name is Amelia and I'm reading.

[Well, it's succinct]

That's a bit of hasty action don't you think? I was going to put these back after all. It's hardly a crime to read and return at least in my opinion.
hopesillusion: (my staff is staring at me)

I found a door and went through it.

[She stands up dusting off her long skirt and then adjusts her glasses]

As you can tell from my accent and my clothing I'm not from around here.
