Then why on Cybertron would he have such a designation...?

[personal profile] makeshiftwings 2012-11-17 06:16 am (UTC)(link)
I don't see what's so strange about it. A lot of people on Pandora have odd names. There's Brick, and Scooter, Boom and Bewm, and of course Zer0.

[personal profile] sciencetank 2012-11-17 06:18 am (UTC)(link)
Do the lot of you simply... choose designations at random? With no thought to implication?

[personal profile] makeshiftwings 2012-11-17 06:19 am (UTC)(link)
I can't speak for the bandits- they have their own rules- but I was named by my... by my parents.

[personal profile] sciencetank 2012-11-17 06:29 am (UTC)(link)
Parents?

[What are those.]

[personal profile] makeshiftwings 2012-11-17 06:34 am (UTC)(link)
My mom and my dad they... [ think in robot terms, Angel ] Built me? Created me? I guess.

[personal profile] sciencetank 2012-11-17 06:36 am (UTC)(link)
Ah. Creators. Yes, I suppose that would affect a few things.

[personal profile] makeshiftwings 2012-11-17 06:38 am (UTC)(link)
A human's creators- parents- are usually the ones responsible for naming it.

[personal profile] sciencetank 2012-11-17 06:41 am (UTC)(link)
[He reaches over to tap at the coffee pot.]

In that case, these parents have terrible senses of what constitutes a decent designation.

There's no way to know what a person is going to be like when they're born. I'm sure they do their best.

[personal profile] sciencetank 2012-11-17 06:54 am (UTC)(link)
There must be some standard attributes to base decisions on.

[personal profile] makeshiftwings 2012-11-17 06:55 am (UTC)(link)
Gender, mostly, but that's about it.

[personal profile] sciencetank 2012-11-17 06:58 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, yes. That... Oddity in and of itself.

[personal profile] makeshiftwings 2012-11-17 06:59 am (UTC)(link)
What, gender?

[personal profile] sciencetank 2012-11-17 07:06 am (UTC)(link)
Yes.

We've no such thing.

[personal profile] makeshiftwings 2012-11-17 07:10 am (UTC)(link)
Really? There aren't any... female robots?

[personal profile] sciencetank 2012-11-17 07:21 am (UTC)(link)
Well. There is Arcee. But it's rather more of an aesthetic choice than it is anything as in-depth as your gender roles and sexual organs.

[personal profile] makeshiftwings 2012-11-17 07:28 am (UTC)(link)
Oh. Oh, I guess that makes sense. [ awkward laugh ]

It looks like the coffee's ready.

[personal profile] sciencetank 2012-11-17 07:30 am (UTC)(link)
Does it?

[You're smarter than he thought, Angel.]

[But then his attention is perked, peering down at the pot in open curiosity.]

You simply drink?

[personal profile] makeshiftwings 2012-11-17 07:32 am (UTC)(link)
[ Hyperion is rife with robots. All she ever saw were robots, her dad, and a handful of scientists and engineers. ]

Not straight from the pot, you don't. And not right away. It's still hot.

[personal profile] sciencetank 2012-11-17 07:37 am (UTC)(link)
[He steps back, looking at her, then motions her forward.]

Very well. Lead on.

[personal profile] makeshiftwings 2012-11-17 07:52 am (UTC)(link)
[ She finds a mug in a cabinet somewhere and pours him a cup of coffee, blowing on it lightly to cool it down. Once she's confident he won't burn his tongue, she offers it to him. ]

There are things you can add to it to alter the flavor, but I thought you might want to start with it plain.

[personal profile] sciencetank 2012-11-17 07:56 am (UTC)(link)
[He watches her -- closely. Maybe a little too closely, but, then again, look who it is. He's probably studying her.]

[But he accepts the mug quietly enough, before slowly tasting the contents. And blinking.]

... Bitter. More so than expected. A slightly... charred taste to it. As if the materials were scorched...

[Why yes, he is talking notes out loud to himself.]

[personal profile] makeshiftwings 2012-11-17 08:05 am (UTC)(link)
[ She just nudges the sugar and cream towards him. ] Here you are.

[personal profile] sciencetank 2012-11-17 08:07 am (UTC)(link)
[Her efforts are rewarded with a blank stare.]

And... those are?
