I don't see what's so strange about it. A lot of people on Pandora have odd names. There's Brick, and Scooter, Boom and Bewm, and of course Zer0.

Do the lot of you simply... choose designations at random? With no thought to implication?

I can't speak for the bandits- they have their own rules- but I was named by my... by my parents.

Ah. Creators. Yes, I suppose that would affect a few things.

A human's creators- parents- are usually the ones responsible for naming it.

[He reaches over to tap at the coffee pot.]

In that case, these parents have terrible senses of what constitutes a decent designation.

There's no way to know what a person is going to be like when they're born. I'm sure they do their best.

There must be some standard attributes to base decisions on.

Gender, mostly, but that's about it.

Well. There is Arcee. But it's rather more of an aesthetic choice than it is anything as in-depth as your gender roles and sexual organs.

[He steps back, looking at her, then motions her forward.]

[ She finds a mug in a cabinet somewhere and pours him a cup of coffee, blowing on it lightly to cool it down. Once she's confident he won't burn his tongue, she offers it to him. ]

There are things you can add to it to alter the flavor, but I thought you might want to start with it plain.

[He watches her -- closely. Maybe a little too closely, but, then again, look who it is. He's probably studying her.]

[But he accepts the mug quietly enough, before slowly tasting the contents. And blinking.]

... Bitter. More so than expected. A slightly... charred taste to it. As if the materials were scorched...
