[ Rion is no stranger to modeling, even though Reika tends to get the most work doing it. Still, Tokyo had a bunch of shoots, and given that SPiKA had five members, all of them were putting in time when they weren't performing together.

Which was fine, as far as Rion was concerned, because it was just another way to strengthen herself as an idol. Even when she found herself, more and more, involved with shoots that involved a partner. Namely-- one Takamaki Ann.

To her surprise, Rion had found a kindred spirit in the other girl, someone who could laugh and joke, someone who wasn't trying desperately to be someone she wasn't, someone who also... really enjoyed sweets. And so, on their fifth shoot, heaving a sigh of relief--

Rion slips a piece of paper out of her bag and trots over to press herself against Ann's side, unfurling the paper to reveal an advertisement. ]

So how much eye-batting am I gonna have to do to get you to come with me?

[It was uncommon that Ann had the chance to work with someone she really enjoyed— at first, she'd thought Rion might be like all the other girls she'd done shoots with in the past, focused on herself and her own career and viewing the other participants as competition, but as it turned out, the two of them were eerily alike in some ways.

Ann had found herself looking forward to each job they had together, glad to have such pleasant company while working, but even so, she hadn't expected Rion to approach her about doing something outside of work. She looks momentarily surprised, her eyes widening slightly as she looks at the advertisement itself—

Definitely up her alley, and Rion's, too.]

Does it make me sound too easy if I say none?

Although— are you sure you don't want to go with one of the girls from your group?

[Ann isn't used to getting invited to things. :/]

I'm sure. [ immediately. ] Reika would kill me for not dieting, Haruna's more the type who'd only do it on a date, and Wakaba and Akira aren't super into stuff like this.

And besides, we haven't had a girl date yet. I wanna see more of the non-working Ann!

[ Rion is Not Shy. ]

[Well, she and Shiho would refer to some of their outings like that, too. Her ears are just the slightest bit pink, but she smiles broadly in reply— of course, she's in.]

Well, when you make such a convincing case, how could I say no? Although I have no idea how someone couldn't be into this.

[Their lives must be tragic.]

[ it's paired with a theatrical sigh. ]

Well, their loss is totally our gain. Your arm, my lady?

[ May she escort you, Ann? ]

But of course.

[Wow, a parfait date and an escort— this is shaping up to be a pretty good day! She smiles even wider, linking their arms together.]

Lead the way!

[ She may have scouted this place out once or twice, because there's absolutely no hesitation when Rion starts walking. She seems to be even happier than usual, but really... she hasn't had a proper girl excursion in a very long time. ]

Are you okay with splitting? Just for our wallets' sakes.

[Splitting...

More than once, Ann has actually sprung for two of something all for herself, but seeing as Rion is the one who invited her, and money is a little tight, she can allow for some leeway.]

It's probably for the best if we do. I should be careful until my next paycheck...

[But the dream of a full parfait. :c She looks only mildly disheartened.]

Splitting sounds great!

[SHE GUESSES.]

You know, I'd been thinking it might be fun to hang out after work sometime, but I was— kind of nervous to ask? Idols are so busy...

[ It's okay, Ann, if you want a second parfait, you are more than welcome. ]

Oh... I mean, you're not wrong.

[ With a sheepish grin, even. ]

But we don't usually have night work except for the occasional rehearsal or concert, so once the shoots are done... I end up being pretty free more than not.

[She will eat parfait until she pops, just watch her. >:|]

I wouldn't have guessed that— with everything else you have going on, I thought you must have late rehearsals all the time.

[You learn something new every day! She smiles sheepishly in turn.]

I really should have asked you sooner, then. This probably sounds stupid, but I don't really have many friends in the business?

[Most models are too competitive to want to spend time with one another, it feels like...]

Mm, no! I wouldn't call that stupid. A lot of models and idols are really competitive with each other, and free time for them is just spent looking for other gigs so they can snag 'em first.

I think it's kind of tiring.

[Evidenced by the fact that she never even considered that angle for herself— but it's pretty obvious that other girls in the business are always trying to get a leg up on one another. She gives Rion a sidelong glance, curious.]

That's never been your thing then, huh. [She's liking Rion more and more.] It's unusual to find someone like you in front of the camera, I think.

I get that a lot. I feel like... if you've got a goal, you can work for that and not lose sight of yourself in the whole... sea of competition thing. I'm not intending on losing to anyone, but I also don't have to get too singleminded and forget why I'm here in the first place.

[ What her dream was-- still is. ]

[Ann decides that she likes that answer, unexpected as it had been, and she smiles knowingly as they walk, offering a nod of approval.]

Balance. I like that.

[They should all strive for that, to some degree. Ann herself could stand to take her work a little more seriously, but she's always so intent on not being like the girls who lose themselves to it that maybe she goes a little too far in the other direction.]

So you have a goal. [Makes sense.] What is it you're aiming for?

I want to be the kind of idol who can bring dreams and hope to others.

[ After a pause, she makes a face. ]

Which sounds like your average shoujo manga, I know.

[Ann won't argue that, but...]

I think it's an admirable goal.

[She smiles warmly, in hopes of offering Rion encouragement— not that it means a whole lot coming from a part-time model, she's sure, but still.]

You want to make people smile... help them feel like they can achieve their own dreams, right? I'm sure the fame part of it is nice, but I feel like you really mean that.

Of course I do! Seeing an idol performance was what pretty much saved me as a kid.

[ And Rion says that sincerely. ]

So I want to carry that with me, and see if I can be like that to the people who come to see us perform.

Really?

[There’s no doubt or judgement in her voice, but curiosity, instead— seeing an idol performance had saved her?]

It’s incredible that you’ve been able to chase your goal this far. You’re in the business for all the right reasons— I’m sure you have plenty of fans who are inspired by you.

[They’re nearing the cafe now, and Ann’s pace slows slightly as they round the corner.]

Even though I’ve been sticking to modeling, even I think your work ethic is inspiring. You always seem like you’re in your element.

Five years of hard work, but don't tell anyone. Idols are supposed to make it look like they nailed it on the first shot.

And speaking of, you're definitely a natural, Ann! I think you're pretty amazing.
