[ And quick conversation change is a go now that he reaches for another cookie and offers it to her! ] By the way, have you had these before? They are quite amazing! Although I don't recommend using the drink they're serving here to mix them with. It's not as appealing as it is with milk, I'm afraid.

Laura just sighs and accepts the cookie with a very composed bob of her head. ]

While I'm not entirely certain how the tradition came to be, it dictates that two individuals found standing beneath it must share a kiss in some fashion.

[ Hmm! Well then, while he munches onto the cookie and connecting the dots a bit here, he starts to think about this for a moment. Not that he's dumb, but its just there are certain things you have to experience to fully comprehend it!

And here they are with her coming to his rescue from preventing the potential consumption of poison, and still talking with him over cookies and said poison of all things. Oh, and now this tradition. Seems like the best way to break the ice is to shatter it completely head on! ]

Well then. Far be it from me from trying to break tradition then for something so harmless like that!

[ With a quick wipe of his mouth to take away any cookie crumbs off his lips and swallowing the last bit of whatever is in his mouth, he'll take the plunge right on in and pops in a kiss right on Laura's lips. Laura is a person who practices things like decorum, composure, and very diplomatic answers, because this is what happens when you're nobility and not the kind that excels in being a snobbish asshole.

[ There was an honest to god confusion on his face at her obvious surprised reaction and what was said. It WAS to be expected if this is a tradition, isn't it? Huh. How weird. Why do people gotta put rules about kissing people? That's just silly. ] Preparation, you say? So I didn't do it correctly then... that is a shame. Then what must be done if we are to do it right then? Have we not consumed enough food or joined the dancing festivities enough yet, perhaps? Or is it because someone's heart just wasn't into it, I wonder?

I suppose that is fair, although it still feels rather silly to put even more limitations for such a tradition. My apologies for not hearing your agreement, but as you can see, I'm rather open about such things. [ Or perhaps that's the eggnog talking. Its a pretty casual claim to make and only to just down that cup before placing it aside. ] Then again, you learn to be open about a lot of things when you have a second chance to live your life again. So now I can say kissing a beautiful young lady can be marked off my accomplishments! Although I could probably do better on finding a better drink to share with said beautiful young lady, to be honest. I've haven't even started to lose feeling in my finger tips and you can still taste the liquor in this. That's just honestly rude and literal bad taste.

[ Setting aside the compliment (said twice??) for the moment, Laura glances sharply at the punch bowl. More specifically, at a highly-suspicious man loitering near the punch bowl, and she quietly clears her throat and narrows her eyes. ]

If you would like to find a different drink, I'll be taking care of this problematic one very quickly. Please excuse me for a moment.

I don't mind you calling me by my real name, but a common nickname I was given was 'Lancer', but Enkidu is fine if you rather have that.

Not really no, but do you have a preference for yours? You seem the type that casual names are reserved for close friends. And unless you think of me as a friend, which I'll be admittedly flattered after having a brief introduction together, I doubt that will be the case. Although I do have to wonder about your father's... 'generosity' with his guest roster. Seeing as the man you kindly escorted out of the premises was here to begin with being an example, I would assume that crashers are common for your family parties? [ And so is some random legendary spirit too for that matter, but eh. Details. ]

You'll have to forgive me for the formality of my speech, but I assure you, calling me Laura is fine. [ really, she doesn't care unless the person in question is outright demanding formality from her. ]

As for that, my father and I both feel as though celebrations needn't be available only to nobility, so we welcome anyone. If they behave in a manner that troubles a great deal of people, however, then we kindly ask them to behave as such elsewhere.

I see! So what were to happen if someone decides to become a little... rough for the sake of wanting to roughhouse? Granted this party hardly requires someone to cause such a scene, but having someone wanting to blow of steam to escape such a crowded place must be a common feeling or two.

Especially if, say, I could provide that chance? Not that I would promote violence or anything unnecessary, but if someone needed an excuse for such an exchange if only to get a bit of fresh air... then I suppose I could be willing to offer my services. Assuming that blade of yours isn't something for decoration!
