[ Something akin to a shudder races through her, like the first step into a steaming bath after being battered about by a frigidly fierce storm. Her mind is still racing, trying to make sense of all that's happened and what's happening now, but as she lifts her head and peers at him...
Her thoughts abruptly still. Almost.
Logically, she knows there's a plethora of things she needs to address here. With his heart ripped out and his eyes unseeing, only whole as a spirit, he shouldn't be like this in front of her. And she ought to correct him that she's no longer Athena, if that's what this bereft feeling translates into-- and she knows, with some strange sort of finality, that that's the truth. And she should tell him she's fine, even if she ought to be dead, and she ought to ask him if he's fine, because he had suffered so much and kept fighting devotedly--
But the only thing she can possibly think to do at that moment is to raise herself up off the ground on legs that feel just a little wobbly, and she can't even hope to prevent her tears from overflowing as she stumbles on her first step but pushes forward nonetheless.
She would be the one he'd be concerned about first, but she needs to know for herself that he's here and whole, truly. ]
