neku sakuraba is not what you would call a good kisser. for a teen who spent most of his formative years actively avoiding any sort of social interaction, it's not all that surprising. there's an awkwardness in the way he squeezes his eyes shut, the way he bumps his nose into hers because he didn't think to angle his head before he went in, the way he just seems like he wants to melt into the floor and die a second time.

all of this happens within the span of the first two seconds of lip-to-lip contact.]

[ Hisui isn't at any kind of level to be able to judge what a good kiss is versus a not-that-great kiss. And maybe she starts a little when he bumps his nose against hers, because she's also closed her eyes, but after a startled second, she tentatively parts her lips a little further to kiss him back.

Because for some reason, the kiss is continuing, there is no rule about what to do in terms of kissing and the continuation or lack thereof, except that she thinks it's probably very rude to be the one to end it.

As a maid, the well-being and comfort of the guest comes first and she thinks like this, it's likely not comfortable for him, so slowly, she tilts her head to make the kissing angle a little less awkward.

[as hisui adjusts her positioning, it seems like neku finally comes to his senses. his eyes fly open and he can see her face is as close to his as humanly possible. he's pretty sure his heart actually skips a beat or two before he breaks the kiss, taking a hasty step back. it at least confirms that they are no longer bound by the dreaded mistletoe's curse... for now.

[ He's not the only one who's beet-red, although Hisui's blush thankfully doesn't clash with her hair. Her heart feels as though it's racing much too hard for a situation that she's had to deal with more than once (perhaps because it's been some time, she wonders), and it takes a few seconds for her to reply as she places a palm over her chest and curls her fingers into the fabric.

... Really, as shameful as it is to admit it, even to herself, the most prevalent sensation she's feeling right now is overwhelmed. ]

... Forgive me, Neku-san. [ And, as expected from a maid, she curtsies slightly. ] I'm sorry for troubling you.

[as embarrassed as he feels right now, he still can't shake his head and sigh when she hears the familiar phrase come out of her mouth, coupled with the gesture.]
