[ It’s a meeting of brothers and their retainers once the official retinue from Hoshido finally makes its way to the royal palace in Clarines, after a long and arduous journey from far-off lands and climes. Whispers of economic and military alliances abound as the Princes Ryoma and Takumi meet with the Wisterias, in a private meeting from which their respective retainers are exempt.

And the purpose of this meeting is, after all, to establish good relations between the two kingdoms. Thus, with Saizo currently shadowing Lord Ryoma from outside the audience chamber, Kagero has little choice but to do a bit of friendly reconnaissance herself, and set up some minor political alliances of her own.

Which invariably involves her doing it the old-fashioned Hoshidan way—by appearing out of nowhere as Obi reclines upon the branch of a tree overlooking the herbalists’ garden. ]

You would be one of Prince Zen’s retainers, is that correct?

[ It's been awhile since Obi's seen another retainer appear with the stealth of someone this well-trained. He didn't hear a single twig snap or a branch rustle, no scuff of a foot leaving the ground, which would have been frustrating if she had been an enemy.

She also looks about as easy to faze as Kiki, which never bodes well, even as he shoots her an easy grin. ]

And you're one of Prince Ryoma's.

They'll be in there for hours, probably.

[ At least they’re trying to avoid the being enemies part? Kagero is pretty sure her lords won’t fuck it up probably, but when you’ve got the likes of Saizo and Hinata running loose…

All the more reason why she has to play nice here and now. Despite the distance between the two kingdoms, after all, Obi had been nigh-on undetectable had it not been for the fact that Kagero is privy to the same techniques of stealth that Obi likely subscribes to. Indeed, she’s beginning to wonder how much they really have in common…

For now, though, she gives him a soft smile. ]

[ Kagero. But from the easy way he says it, he'll at least give her the opportunity to introduce herself. Obi just likes to keep very well-informed. ]

Kagero. A pleasure. [ There’s a tension appearing in her smile at the mention of Saizo, however. She would not want to leave behind the impression that regular Hoshidans could be…well…

Softening the edges, hiding the steel beneath silk—she and Oboro have a lot of work to do here, it seems. ]
