Ninja shenanigans

[ there are very few fights where Kasuga has found herself backed - no, slammed into a corner, and she's loath to admit it, but without Sasuke, she can't confidently say she would still be alive.

But she is, and he is, and although their opponent still lives, he's doing so at a safe distance-- far enough for Kasuga to dazedly drag herself up against a nearby tree and fumble for her medical kit. Sasuke-- she'd lost sight of him, and she leans back against the trunk with a ragged breath before she turns her head to see if she can spot him now. ]

You're worrying too much, over another ninja.

[ she doesn't want him too close, much closer than he's already gotten. Loving a lord is one thing, but a romance between ninja? One may be futile, but the other promises to be even more painful. ]

[ Sasuke, on the other hand, tries to brush it off. He knows, oh does he know, how badly this could end, but try as he might, he just... can't not worry about her. He's tried. ]

What? We both went though a lot yesterday. I just wanted to make sure you were upright.

I made it back even with you leaning on me, didn't I?

[ never mind that she'd done her fair share of leaning. ]

You were leaning too. Besides, I'm not the one who fell asleep in the middle of the hallway.

That-- [ and she sputters, cheeks coloring. ]

I'm surprised no one tripped over you.

[ Oh good, this was beginning to look like familiar territory. Kasuga mad at him was better than Kasuga pushing him away. ]

What? I mean, you were just sprawled there...

[ she knows better. She knows better, and yet this is so familiar that she can't help but fall back into it, even as she whirls on him, all glare. ]

I wasn't sprawled, and you very well could have woken me up!!

See, that's all I wanted to know. That wasn't so hard now, was it?

[ she'd like to shove him off the roof. ]

What's that look for? [ SHE WOULDN'T DARE. But if she were to get close enough to try, she'd notice that he's doing an admirable- though not perfect- job of hiding how damned tired he still is. ]

[ she's not against it, but as she moves closer to dislodge him-- she pauses, and her gaze sharpens. ]

[ He catches her gaze for half a second, then turns away. ] I don't know what you're talking about.

[ and this time she reaches out, catching him by the collar. ]
