Character Name: Yukiko Amagi
Fandom: Persona 4
Timeline: Post-True Ending
Crimes: aggravated assault, smuggling, conspiracy, harboring of an illegal alien (/Shadow), disturbing the peace, vigilantism, disorderly conduct, public intoxication (sort of), stalking

Personality: A typical Japanese beauty, Yukiko is not only lovely and ladylike, but incredibly intelligent. She's one of the smartest people in her class, usually a favorite to study with and willing to lend her aid in study sessions. The feminine and proper behavior seems to stem from being the heir to Inaba's largest and most luxurious traditional hot spring inn, which is a source of great pride for its citizens. As she's expected to succeed as manager of the inn, Yukiko spends a lot of time helping out there and often has to go straight there after school-- she even skips school once, due to things becoming far too busy at the inn, and shoulders a lot of the tasks, a testament to her sense of responsibility. Even though she eventually admits that she felt as though she needed to take care of everything on her own.

Because of all the time she has to devote to the Amagi Inn, Yukiko's social skills are a little... lacking. She tends to misconstrue romantic advances towards her, and has rejected so many offers from boys that asking Yukiko out gains its own label: the Amagi Challenge, one that no one's succeeded in. It becomes apparent that Yukiko really has no idea of the boys' true intentions, however, as seen when she tells a boy that she won't go with him-- and then asks, once he leaves, "Wh-what did he want from me...?" She also reacts involuntarily to certain comments that she takes the wrong way, like Kanji wondering what her experience with her Shadow was like, or Yosuke asking for "private lessons"-- both cases ending in Yukiko slapping them across the face hard enough to do more than sting (though she becomes flustered and claims that she didn't mean to hit that hard).

To those who may not know her, Yukiko is quiet and can be rather gloomy-seeming and cold, but she was harboring quite a bit of resentment inside of her for the longest time. She was sick and tired of feeling as though she had no say in her future, like she was chained to the inn, and wished only to be taken away from what she viewed as her personal cage. But she lacked the courage to actually do anything about it. She felt worthless, dull, and nothing without Chie, who got along with people (especially boys) far better than Yukiko could without her best friend's help-- because, quite honestly, Yukiko isn't used to one-on-one conversations with guys and she doesn't have the ease around others that her best friend has. All of the above isn't easy to admit. She does, however, accept these feelings and slowly becomes more approachable and lively once she comes to terms with her true self.

The true Yukiko is modest, diligent and easily flustered, occasionally dorky, and possesses... the unusual trait of bursting into nonstop, hysterical laughter in the face of certain situations and horrible jokes. Most of them, anyway-- some of Teddie's are too bad, even for Yukiko. As she only used to do this around her best friend Chie, she's come a long way in being able to do the same in front of the others. It's a given that she at least needs to be comfortable around people first, however; she still appears rather mysterious and quiet around strangers. And she has moments where she suddenly becomes very frightening, such as when she innocently ponders covering a girl's nose and mouth to prevent her from snoring, announces that "That bear needs to be disappeared" or tells Rise in the spirit of ~*good clean competitive fun*~ "I'll crush you with one strike." While usually demure, if you push her enough, you'll get the ferocity of a tiger. You don't want to make Yukiko mad.

Also, she can't cook. Not without supervision. Her first attempt made the tasters spit it out, and her second attempt somehow turned out completely tasteless. We won't talk about the hell Souji had to endure in her Social Link.

Last but not least, Yukiko is loyal-- to her heritage, as well as to her friends. She has a strong urge to flee from her duties as future inn owner, not wishing to be tied down to Inaba forever, but ultimately comes to realize how much she actually loves her inn and loses her temper when it's badmouthed by the tabloid reporters. She's firm in her resolve to face every challenge head-on, and that includes standing together with her friends and helping out as much as she can.

Abilities: Inside of the TV world, Yukiko is able to summon her Persona Amaterasu (not the dog, sadly), which renders her capable of fighting with powerful fire spells. She also uses healing spells, including one that can revive fainted party members and another that fully heals and removes any status problems for everyone. Her true strength is her magic, not her actual physical strength-- though her slaps do indeed hurt.

Multifandom Test: If the person in consideration is Mitsuru Kirijo from Persona 3 (while technically from the same world, they're in two different times and locations), these two would get along rather well. They're both highly intelligent girls who have a lot of responsibility placed upon them from their family businesses, regardless of how they themselves initially feel about it and refuse to voice it-- though Mitsuru does this for the good of the company, and Yukiko does this because she's too afraid to say otherwise. They also have similar feelings of innocent confusion over simple things-- fast food, in Mitsuru's case, and... well, boys, in Yukiko's. I could see Yukiko coming to admire Mitsuru for being both elegant and refined and a capable and confident leader-type who commands respect, something she's not quite so good at-- Chie is the more outgoing and decisive one in their friendship. Yukiko would also be relieved to meet another person expected to inherit a great deal of responsibility.

Third person sample:

With a low, respectful bow, Yukiko backed out of the room, politely informing the inn's newest guests as to the bathing times for either sex (a split-second memory of throwing buckets at a group of half-naked and gawking boys flashed through her mind) and bid them to enjoy their stay. With that accomplished, she brushed her hands lightly against her kimono-clad legs and straightened.

It hadn't been all that long since the head of the Investigation Team had returned to the city, but she already missed him sorely. The group rarely met at the Junes food court anymore and visitors were still pouring into the Amagi Inn at a fast rate. She'd already had to inform a few hopeful guests that the inn was booked solid until June - neglecting to mention that one particular week in May had been set aside for her own friends - and the work just kept coming. Baths to clean, bedding to air out, guests to welcome and serve, meals to prepare (even if the staff had been adamant about her focusing her concerns elsewhere, Yukiko couldn't help wanting to assist until she was inevitably shooed out of the kitchen, missing the sighs of relief entirely)... she always gained more admiration for her mother and the maids during times like these, because this was a lot for one person to manage on her own.

"But I'm not alone," she said aloud, accompanied by a surge of affection for her friends, the workers at this inn, her family-- she no longer felt trapped by any of this. This inn, Inaba... all of it was her choice, and she'd face everything with that knowledge held securely inside of her. She'd be just fine.

"But it wouldn't hurt to see if the cooks need any help," Yukiko mused, and turned to continue walking in that direction. "I made sure to learn how to tell the difference between radishes and turnips this time."

First person sample:

Wh--

[ yes, your first introduction to Yukiko Amagi is a non-ladylike sputter of disbelief. ]

C-criminal?? B-but I've-- I've never-- at least, I don't think I-- no, I didn't-- and I didn't mean to hit that hard, this has to be some sort of misunderstanding...

[ with this decided, Yukiko takes a deep breath and speaks uncertainly. ]

Um... h-hello...? I'm sorry, but I think there's been a mistake. My name is Yukiko Amagi, and I... I'm very sure I haven't committed any crimes. But I need to get back to the inn, it's a very busy weekend for us, and... er, this isn't... really lifelong, is it? I think I would have heard something if Japan suddenly started sentencing people to an underwater prison.

[ a pause-- and then, slightly hopefully, because if Yukiko is a criminal, then surely the one delivering critical hits to the nads is... ]

Chie? Are you here?
