Occupation/Grade: Student Council President; 12th Grade
Room:

PB: Lydia Carlton from Earl and Fairy
Appearance: Charlotte stands at 5'6" and carries herself with the dignity and grace befitting a slender young woman, never one to bow her head unless humbly accepting a comment. Otherwise, she's known for her direct gaze whenever she speaks to someone, with light green eyes that don't miss much. With an Irish heritage on her father's side (he hailed from Ireland until he moved to England and met his future wife), she possesses the tell-tale thick auburn hair and the pale skin that could probably glow in the dark-- meaning she sunburns like a mofo and so spends most summers indoors. Her hair is the one thing that she refuses to mess with when it comes to keeping up with fashionable hair styles, other than the great care she exhibits with it. She prefers to wear it down but, recognizing that it could quite easily become a hindrance, she's not above putting it in a long braid or pinning it up while in uniform.

In terms of clothing, she doesn't tamper with her uniform at all. She'll wear a black sweater in the colder months, and white stockings with the blouse and gray skirt ensemble. When she's not in uniform, expect Charlotte to still be incredibly well-put together in whatever dress is fashionable at the time. She's fastidious about the appearance of her clothing, and has been known to carry a small sewing kit on her in case she needs to do some quick fixes.

She's also very fond of hats, possibly because it allows her to spend time outside without too much risk of sunburn on her face, but won't accessorize much outside of that without outside suggestions.

Personality: A student council president should be fair, approachable and confident enough to handle anything that comes her way, and Charlotte strives to be both a proper lady and a capable leader for Adessi Hall. As such, she's a genial and kind person who takes on an older sister approach with almost everyone and works very hard to keep the council organized, as well as helping with the events to make sure they go off without a hitch. She tries to make a habit of learning notable names and talents, so she can enlist help where it's needed. "Serene" is her default mode, though she's definitely able to display joy and happiness, and the closest she'll come to a show of anger is the Frown of Disapproval. But it's not the Frown of Disapproval you ought to be wary of.

No, it's the sweet Smile of YOU DONE MESSED UP. When Charlotte smiles like that, run. Because she possesses the uncanny talent of making you feel worse than dirt without ever raising her voice, slinging insults, or being specifically threatening. On the subject of not raising her voice, she was taught that proper ladies never speak above a normal volume, so she makes an effort to keep her voice restrained at all times. Instances of Charlotte are rare, almost legendary, but the quieter she is, the angrier she is. Beware the whisper.

It takes quite a bit to ruffle her feathers, and Charlotte prides herself on handling most situations with a calm and business-like attitude. However, it's been made evident that she's still wary on the school becoming co-ed, and the main reason she worked her way up to student council president over the years was so she'd be able to prevent the males from seizing too much power and exerting their dominance in the school setting. She won't tolerate any pranks and isn't noble enough to keep her silence if she knows who the culprit is. If she catches someone, she can and will report them.

Granted, just because Charlotte looks and acts as though nothing will faze her, you just have to know what will, and you'll earn yourself a red-faced and flustered girl. For example, she's very superstitious, thanks to having an even more superstitious governess growing up. She'll touch wood for good luck, smile at the sight of a black cat, refuse to pass people on the stairs or open an umbrella indoors, etc. She's unaccustomed to being paid genuine compliments by males (attempts to butter her up are fruitless) or courted, so any and all attempts to do so will fluster her. And she's afraid of the ocean, possibly because it's unpredictable and you never know when your feet will get dragged out from under you. Charlotte isn't a fan of the unknown; despite her superstitious nature, she's hesitant to chalk everything up to that without verifying it herself.

History: Charlotte was born in England in the midst of war, but grew up relatively sheltered; other than an uncle being a member of the troops, she had no familial involvement in it. Her father moved overseas to America shortly after the war had ended, in search of new opportunities, and her mother had her family and a nanny available to help her raise Charlotte. Because of the many cousins her age, she spent a lot of her time running around with the other children and getting into lots of scrapes and shenanigans-- much to her mother's dismay. It was her nanny, Doris, who helped Charlotte reach a compromise between being the little girl who ran around with the boys and spoke her mind and being the proper and quiet young lady that her mother was trying to shape her into. Doris remedied this by sitting the little girl down and telling her that it was the demure and serene woman who held more power by getting her point across in civilized, quiet tones than the wild-eyed heathen who shrieked like a maniac and led others to believe she was crazy and therefore not credible at all.

After that, Charlotte became very well-behaved and somehow... much, much scarier.

She spent seven years of her life in England, and then her father sent for them once he'd settled enough to be able to comfortably provide for his family. Regrettably, the nanny - who had become almost like a second mother - had family of her own and gently refused Charlotte's pleas to come with them, and in the end, it was just her and her mother who moved to America. The softspoken but confident English girl took some time to adjust, but ultimately made a friend of most people she encountered and got along just fine. She enrolled at Adessi Hall at the recommendation of a friend of the family-- a year after it became co-ed. Remembering the stories her nanny had told her about how difficult it had been for women to get a higher education until the Education Act of 1918, Charlotte was concerned that the males would be trying to exert dominance over what had previously been an all-girls environment and decided that she would work as hard as she could to keep that from happening. She worked feverishly her first year and was elected on the council during her second. She's been a member ever since and eventually claimed the presidency, a role she takes very seriously.

Other: Rumor has it that she likes dancing. This has remained unproved.
