[ he can't believe she really was going to go after it. he's prepared for it, but the fact that he actually could have missed grabbing her makes him all the more internally crazy at what has been unfolding for him the past hour or so. but he's not even able to have words with himself over how he feels about all this as her reflexes to his grab are so fast that gilbert has to end up staring blankly at her for a second or two, wondering how he did not just get a good slap across the face (or did he and it was just that bad that he can't even remember it happening).
the girl's voice drags him out of his momentary daze, blinking and giving her a more focused and direct look, trying his best to give her an equally unhappy narrow eyed expression as if doing so is going to make his scolding all the more effective or something like that.
